Mxy : Thanks. I enjoyed writing it. I felt that, for the first time in awhile, I'm beginning to stretch my fingers again. :) Chewy : Thank you, sir. Sorry I've been lazy about responding to your e-mail. I'll rectify it soon enough. :) T5 : Thank you, as well. But, hey, don't exaggerate.... :) quote: Originally posted by thedoctor: Pro, loved the post. Now how did you ever come up with that Alice reference?
There are these books that I read when I was younger called Alice In Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass. You should check it out sometime.... :)
You need to PM me or Grimm about having drinks at a CERTAIN resturant on Wed. for shits and giggles.
Cold day in hell (a.k.a. "When I Finish TOMBForever") I let myself get trapped, intoxicated, in a public place with you two nutnags. But, if Grimm can drag me out of the place (and with his size ratio to mine, I believe he can), we'll see..... :)
Now, I must find where Dirk fits into all this.
Kicking ass and taking names, as it should be.
Danny : It's true. It's so true. Has anyone heard how they're dumbing-down the LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN for us "simple" American sheep? Tom Sawyer, baby. *sigh* BTW, talk to Chewy about e-mailing me.....
Oh, and just so you all know, I'm completely ignoring what you are writing about LORD OF THE RINGS. I haven't seen it yet (GASP!), and plan to wait until the second one is in the theater before renting the first DVD. :)

Wait for the THIRD, and then rent the first two. That way, you have not to wait two whole years to see it completed, like us poor mortals!

Ah, the wonders of Rob's Board!
I've just "topped" the story thread, so that interested parties (namely, us) don't have to wade through other misc. threads to find the story.
Lemme know what you think... I can "de-top" it, if consensus is negative...

Actually, that's a good idea. Headline an issue until it's finished. that way it's easier to find when you want to post.

True. And I agree. The only reason I pointed this out was because Chewy was trying to mock what I said when he had no reason to. Now let's all put this sad episode behind us... ![[nyah hah]](images/icons/tongue.gif)

You guys can forget the nice, friendly, and yet weird black Naecken now... His powers and configuration moved on to the next level. He now has the power of hellfire, light, and lava abilities that makes him able to create volcanoes. Imagine Firelord from Marvel Comics. He has red skin and green eyes...a clue there folks.

*sigh*
1) The Wonderland stories came out in the 1800's.
2) Doctor Who came out in 1963.
Now, you tell me who originated the quote. The fact that Doctor Who used it does not predicate the fact that I read it from Carrol first. Besides, I think I've used it as a 'catch-all' phrase to describe Turkish's abilites in the Origins thread.
Now, where did you get the idea for Dirk Bell's "former" crew? Certainly not a "rip", eh? Wouldn't you say, more of an homage?
BTW, all, the book DON'T PANIC by Neil Gaiman is out. It is a wonderfully insane look into the life and death of my writing idol Douglas Adams. You should all pick it up. He was brilliant in so many ways. :)

Peace. :)
Getting back to the story: Does anyone have any ideas on how we can start tying in all the solo subplots back into the story? I know I set up my whole "reversal of fates" for Pete and Kristofer Schanz (my take on the "Castle of Crossed Destinies," I guess), but I don't have any idea on where to go from here. It would be interesting to eventually see all the various "realities" crumbling and mixing into each other before our heroes get their act together. Actually, it is a rip. I'm making fun of some folks, not paying homage to them. Couldn't really give a damn about them. But Grimm has more info on that, if you're interested.

Doc, hope you don't mind Dirk sustaining some "injuries" on the field... ![[wink]](images/icons/wink.gif) Hey, they'll heal, right? As for now, I don't want Knell to reappear in the story until later. Just leave him in a crumpled heap for the others to find... :) Thanks! [ 08-05-2002, 02:11 AM: Message edited by: Chewy Walrus ]

When this story is ended, and the following one also (that, if I got it right, should be the flashback featuring the missing mont), I would be glad to post the next story. I have the perfect title and starting post, and NO IDEA about how it should end.
It's about a mission of MBL Consulting, I think they need to works after all...

TTT, I tried to edit the MBL line-up in page one, moving Kristogar to the missing members, but, I DON'T KNOW HOW, I royally messed up it. See (you or one of the other mods) if you can correct it, I give up. ![[eh... i dunno... ]](graemlins/ehidunno.gif)

Actually, if we want to deal with the injuries of the team in a realistic way, we could always just retcon the "one month" reference out of the beginning, and use the next story to just develop the characters, and their settings. Thus, progressing on, but still getting the development a "flashback one month" story would give.
Any thoughts?
Danny, I'm with everyone else. You're in the groove with your writing. I'm loving every post. :)
Grimm: Death walks among us. Loved it.
Chewy: GREAT development with Knell in this story. I think we've found an A-1 level recurring nemesis. One question, purely semantical however: Why was Sam's fist, shaped like a "hammer", able to drop Knell with one shot, but, Grimm, who posesses mega-inhuman strength, not able to make a dent in him? Just curious.
Mxy: You've gone beyond impressing me, now. You're a really damn good writer. :)
T5: A new Naecken? I'm curious.....
Gooz: Any ideas of how you will tie Sam's emotional angst up? I have some ideas on the subject. E-mail me if you're interested.
Thoughts on Tobias and LLance: Are they coming back? I mean, Tobias comes and goes pretty frequently. But, LL? I haven't seen him around since the last story. Are the old (TOMB) rules about exiting a character after a one-story absence still in effect?
Euro: When are you going to start writing a character for the team, and not just play "Gamemaster" with the villians? I miss having Nemo to play with. :)

Pro, as you can see in my and Gooz solo thread, Eurostar is on his way to La Perdita. At the beginning of the next "actual time" story (that is, the second after the end of the current, if the next is the flashback), Eurostar will be back in the folder.
I haven't brought back Eurostar yet, because I needed time to develop him in his next form: the first stories have presented an Euro that has run away from my hands, becoming (not only for my faults), something a lot different from the character I had in mind when I began the New Universe in the "New Beginning" thread.
Things like him being a christian foundamentalist, the nearly omnipotent powers, or the charismatic presence and the will to start a revolution, are now (or will be at the end of the solo story), a things of the past. Not retconned, but behind him, still part of his story, like his burden for the mess in Chicago, but no more so important in making his character.
In a sense, he will be more like Nemo, the one character I had more fun to write. Just like to make Nemo I took Aquaman, crossed with the true Jules Verne's Captain Nemo, a little bit of Sean Connery and a lot of myself, so Eurostar will be some of Hawkman, a little bit of Nicholas Cage (at last his perennial face of beaten puppy), and a lot of myself, especially in his newfound bond with the natural world, and especially raptors, just like the true me.
So, don't fear, Eurostar will be back soon. :) [ 08-05-2002, 11:05 AM: Message edited by: The Eurostar ]

Regarding the other questions: I am for your idea, about editing out the "one month later" reference at the beginning of the story, and using the next one for a "day in the life" story where everybody could explore the relations among the various characters.
I understand TTT's care to have the timeframe of the HR Universe to go att he same time of our own, but skipping a whole month in this moment, with a lot of neew characters introduced was a bad timing. A solution can be that this story, happening outside our dimension, lasted one day in the life of the heroes, but two months in the rest of the world. When the heroes return, it will be August, 2002, and they will begin to know each other, and the place they live. Just like it will be for us.
About LLance and Tobias, I wouldn't left them out the team. After all, there is a lot of room in the Complex. The only thing I would do is to left them out of the missions (the "proactive" mission, or the hired counsellings, I don't know how I should call them), if their posters are not here at the beginning of the story.
But when the heroes are attacked on the island, they should be present, even if their respective poster have not time/will to write.
I will adopt a similar strategy, because when Fall come, I fear I will have less time to post. Eurostar will stay at the complex, but will not be involved in missions, unless the Time Trust of our real Universe will be kindly with me, giving me enough spare time to come here so often like I do right now. Thanks, Pro.
After Knell finished up Grimm and Dirk, he foolishly thought the battle was over and reverted back to his human form. Thus, he was susceptible to a "hammer-to-the-head" attack.
I was pretty tired when I wrote it, so that may not have been evident...
