Townshend is overhyped & Daltrey had a pretty weak voice!
It would seem so far that your argument is that The Who rocked harder,yet your first statement was nothing to do with this.
It doesnt matter who is rock & who isnt,its undeniable that The Beatles left a bigger imprint on the musical landscape than The Who......thats fact,not a mere opinion.
Elvis Presley barely wrote a song in his life & didnt play any instruments (please dont say he played guitar) but there is no denying that in the music world he is the biggest star ever.
He had that "it" factor that just took him far beyond his compemporaries.
The Beatles did this too.
The Stones & The Who might be huge names but they will always come in second best to The Beatles because they appeal to more people due to their more accessable musical output.
Remember not everyone likes rock music,but nearly everyone likes pop or at least forms of it!
