Whatever. I will say not all facets and forms of rock were started by the Beatles. There were even times THEY were influenced by others...The Who's mini-opera from 1966, "A Quick One," was something John Lennon found very interesting as they worked on SGT PEPPER...
The Beatles influenced and were influenced. They never really produced hard rock in the sense that most of us think of hard rock.
Would Townshend's rock be different if it weren't for the Beatles? Sure. And the Beatles' might have been different if it weren't for Townshend.
