I won't deny an influence on music and culture by the Beatles. At least some of that can be attributed to their individual personalities as to their musical innovations.
Bands may cite the Beatles...but I'm of the opinion that it's often simply chic to mention the Beatles. Like if they don't mention the Beatles, others will think they have no clues about pop music history, etc.
But the thing is...one can (and several of us have) cited other artists at the same time who were doing innovative things contemporary to the Beatles, and even earlier than the Beatles.
