If you're asking for a scientific explanation, there isn't one. It's why I called Caliburn a mystic sword. I should point out that technological items do work around him when the sword doesn't glow green, in which case he wouldn't be in any danger.

As far as what won't work around him? Basically any inventions that weren't around during Europe's Dark Ages (not including anything predating the Dark Ages, either). I'm intentionally using a very broad definition of "technological," here. It's all part of the Mason Templar mystery.
