That's purty smart.

And, while I'm thinking about it, why is it that Vanguard always goes into a mission as a whole unit? Why not send Grissom (back in the day, of course), or Phil out first for intelligence gathering and recon? I think of all the characters presented in the team so far, Phil remains a key specimen of potential when it comes to having an undercover-op. The whole 'unknown' factor of him, plus his telepathy, means that Phil can look like anyone he wanted to, and, thus, go undercover so much easier. Adem, with his nanites, could also be used for intelligence gathering, or, detective work.
Also purty smart. Granted, that runs the risk of costing the team some combat capability, with Adem's tech assimilation/replication abilities and Phil's general hand-to-hand and weapon-handling capabilities. But with Grimm and Danny and the others on hand, it shouldn't really come up that much.

I'm flying back to campus tomorrow night. They may not have our dorm online yet for maintenance purposes, so after tomorrow afternoon I may not be able to post until perhaps Wednesday. I'll try and get my plotline in the Christmas story either wound up or tied into the rest of the plot. I'll try to keep my activity level up this semester, but it might be tricky for the next two weeks because of band variety show.

Dude, I think they're gonna make us do all that crap we had to do when we came in at the beginning of this semester (with the individual virus checks and whatnot). If that's the case, then it may be weeks before we get back here...

BTW, in case anyone's curious, I've always pictured the President of La Perdita as a Caribbean version of Morgan Freeman. Laid-back, intelligent, infinitely patient, and a good listener -- in other words, a great leader. I'd been planning on writing a meeting with Kit (it was going to be brief), showing how the two get along like "old friends" of a sort with similar backgrounds, growing up poor and such, while also having a kind of business relationship in which both Kit and Miss X are constantly trying to smooth things over with the Perditian government whenever the team does something really questionable (like taking a mission for a dictator, etc). As I indicated in a post in issue #14, I see Miss X's and Kit's invaluable work being done so much behind the scenes that it appears to anyone not paying attention that they're doing nothing at all. They're that good. Along with Shirley, Kit and Miss X are the "unsung heroes" of Vanguard International. Someday I plan on writing a short solo story called "A Day In the Life" which details a typical day for each of the support staff. If I ever get some free time between classes, homework and my social life, I'll write it.

See, that's what I'm talking about, though. Some characters may be useful or good at many different things. But, let's concentrate on the true strengths of each character, thereby allowing their individuality to dominate. Much like how I focused more on the telepathic abilities of Phil, when Dirk was around. Phil may know guns, but, Dirk was guns.
I think Phil would be great at undercover ops, while the others concentrated on their own strengths. Not to mention, this gives Phil that "link" to the Montag character, as he is the one that Phil would probably report to from the field. You know?
Euro : I stand corrected.
TTT: If/when you write that "Support Staff" solo thread, I'd love to contribute a Nuriko post/section...

I'd love to see your take on an Aquaman-style character, Pro...
Also, Euro, when we finish up our character bios for our Strikeforce 2 characters, do you want them PM-ed to you or posted in a talk/secret files thread?

Nah! Any "Aquaman" character I would create would be considered 'too powerful'. My take would focus on the elemental understanding and control of H2O. And, since water molecules are present in all lifeforms, this would give my character a serious advantage.
I've toyed with a "Batman", but, I can't seem to come up with anything original. Honestly, I might be interested in a "J'onn". We'll see....

I definetely wanna create an expendable dude for the SF2. I think I'll go with Aquaman, but if someone else has a good idea for that I'll take The Bat-Man.

Right...here's mine...tell me 'yay' or 'nay'
Lykopis
Background
Meaning 'she-wolf' in Greek, Lykopis is one of the oldest metahumans around. She was born around 735 BC, though the exact date is unknown. She, along with several of the female members of the family, seemed deathless. Upon reaching a mature age (early-to-mid twenties), the aging process seemed to stop. Realizing their ageless advantages over their male counterparts, the 'sisters' seized power and became great warriors. These 'Amazons' fought in the pre-Alexander days of Greece.
However, being ageless did not mean being immortal. As the years went by, the Amazons decreased in number, as one by one, they fell by the sword. Lykopis watched as her aunts, sisters, cousins, and her own mother were killed. By the time Alexander the Great came to power in 336 BC, she was the only Amazon remaining. Not wanting to die like her kin, Lykopis vanished, and hid herself for a period of time.
However, after centuries of being a warrior, Lykopis could simply not retire. She spent all her time in study, reading literature, learning new languages, and sharpening her fighting skills, with the goal of being the greatest warrior. After almost three thousand years, she has almost reached her goal.
Nature and Personality
Lykopis has changed over the years. As a girl she was the typical Greek child, obedient to her father, expecting to marry a stranger twice her age. When her meta-powers manifested, Lykopis switched into a man-hating warrior, the perfect 'Amazon' (her mother, once she became an Amazon, changed her name to Androameia, meaning 'Subduer of Men'). Naturally, she was grieved when the other Amazons died, but that soon gave way to boredom and lonelyness. Now in this present age Lykopis is driven to excel, full of arogent pride, and never rests. She strives to perfection. After years of working alone, her team skills are almost non-existant, which makes working with the Strikeforce difficult at some moments. In private moments, however, she seems almost weary and tired from all the intense years.
Skills and Powers
Lykopis' one meta-power is her inability to age. She is perpetually twenty-two. This does not make her immortal, since she still can be killed.
Over the course of almost three thousand years, Lykopis has developed several fighting styles. However, she favors the old Greek weapons. She is also an excellent tactian. Anyone fighting Lykopis would have to outfight or outsmart her.
Another 'weapon' of Lykopis is her horse, Melenippe. The name means 'Black Horse', though the mare is actually a dark buckskin (brown with black points). It is an intelligent animal, able to read her mistress's commands. Lykopis mastered equatrian skills as well, and both horse and rider are a threat. Melenippe's helmet is spiked, making her look like a hellish unicorn. It is possible, but not proven, that this animal is a meta of its own species.

Is this going to be limited to seven? If so, it's fine, but if not, I'd love to do a size-changing "Atom"-like character. The leftovers in the list don't really interest me much.

Thanks for the comments on the post, Pro. I honestly don't know whether I'm intending to be funny sometimes.

Okay...
Superman - Chewy Batman - Wonder Woman - CJ (BTW, fucking awesome description, CJ. I think I would really hate to see Lykopis killed off. She sounds like a brilliant character.) Aquaman - Mxy (?) Flash - Grimm Green Lantern - Danny J'onn - Phil Atom - TTT
So, okay. I guess that just leaves 'Batman'. Damn. Honestly, a Batman-type character is so one-dimensional, to me. I mean, what's his "power"? The ability to outthink the plot?
Well, I guess, that leaves Doc or Euro to do Batman. I just don't think I can do it. At least, I don't have anything original for him. Although, he'd be a great foil for Ozzy. However, I simply don't see myself creating a Bat-type character.

*Sigh*
Okay......so, that leaves Batman and Flash open, right? And, since Grimm isn't letting Amuck come out to play, that means another speedster will have to be created.
I'll brainstorm and see if I can come up with anything. Any takers, though, in case I can't?

CJ, great!
Flash and Batman for me, Grimm, Doc and Pro? And NotWedge?
I think we could add a Green Arrow, a Hawkman and a... (who was next? Black Canary?) to have one character for everyone.
Pro, Batman as the one that outsmart the plot is just one possible interpretation. He could be a gadget man, too.

Ubermensch
Background
Hans Schneider was this universe's first successful test tube baby, created by a remnant of Nazi scientists in 1980 using stolen Mandelovian genetic instruments (including an early prototype of the Interactive Genetic Organizational Regulator, known as G.E.O. - Genetic Experimental Operator). Using the data and research collected from Hitler's 'superman' program, the scientists were able to create the perfect Aryan specimen, using the best of the DNA of many Nazi leaders.
The experiment enjoyed a short success, however, as the Mandelovian government retaliated the loss of their stolen property, wiping all memory of the project and placing the child (whose latent potential they realized, but did not want to see actualized) was placed under the care of Herr and Frau Schneider, a middle-class couple in Hamburg incapable of bearing children.
As Hans grew, he began to adopt a serious interest in philosophy, especially the writings of German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. These studies led him to Bonn University, where philosophers like Karl Marx and Nietzsche himself got their starts. On his eighteenth birthday, however, Schneider discovered that he, too, was like Nietzsche's ubermensch, capable of seizing his own destiny due to his extraordinary abilities.
Nature and Personality
Hans is a very bright and laid-back young man for the most part. Whether due to his questionable origins or humble German upbringin, in the back of his mind, he's always realized that he was capable of bigger and better things than what he was doing, though, which is why Nietzsche's ubermensch and the "will to power" so intruiged him. He is a young man driven by the desire to fulfill and complete his own destiny through his own 'miraculous' abilities.
Skills and Powers
On an average day, Hans is no different from any other person you might run into. However, whenever he becomes convicted, angry, or otherwise compelled, he is able to activate what he calls his "Will to Power". These abilities manifest themselves one at a time until Hans is fully-powered.
(It should be noted that Hans' abilities are a result of the Nazi genetic experimentation and toying with the metagenetic material latent in many of the specimens used.)
Hans' abilities start off harmless enough, allowing for enhanced senses - sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing. After this, he begins to gain enhanced reflexes and agility (not to be confused with speed), follwed by superhuman strength. Not far behind his strength is flight, enabling him to fly into Earth's upper atmospheres, but not outside. He would die with direct contact to outer space, due to his human need for oxygen. Eventually, his body is seized by an imperviousness to physical injury, which allows him to be able to (at least) survive at ground zero of an atomic bomb. Finally, at full power, the Ubermensch is able to convert solar power into energy bursts, which emit themselves from his eyes and hands. These bursts are significantly weaker during the night, as he is only able to convert energy reflected off of the lunar surface.
These levels of power manifest themselves gradually, but are maintained as each new level is added. No one save Hans himself is able to know when these changes are occuring, allowing him to bluff his way out of situations, rather than merely accepting a quick death. In this way, he has evaded the Reaper on more than one occasion.
*NOTE* - Hans has never learned and is not aware of his origins as a Nazi genetics experiment. To his knowledge, he is the son of Herr Ludwig and Frau Olga Schneider of Hamburg.

Here we go, let me know what you think:
Texhèk
Background
Shortly before the collapse of the Soviet Union, while he was still in high school, government officials took notice of Rostislav Datsuyk's mechanical genius. They set him up with his own high-tech lab to do whatever research he desired, from high tech weaponry for the military to sophisticated spy equipment for the KGB.
Rostislav shed no tears for the fall of the CCCP, however. For him the process of invention was its own reward and due to shoddy record keeping, the new government knew nothing of his private lab so he was left in peace to pursue his own goals. His outlook changed slightly with the public emergence of metahumans. He found himself driven to prove that with his own inventions and cunning, he, an "ordinary" man, was at least the equal of any "superhuman." He designed a costume equipped with devices of his own design and took on the name "Texhèk", Russian for "The Technician".
Nature and Personality
The best word to describe Texhèk is "Proud". He can be cold and aloof, even to his own teammates, and is more concerned with his personal glory than with the team's success. He is determined to such a degree, he will keep fighting even past the point when any sane man would know the cause is lost. Also, he becomes enraged at his Teammates' tendency to shorten and "Americanize" his name to "Ross"
Skills and Powers
It has been suggested by some that his ability to invent is meta-human in nature. Rostislav rejects such notions and is even insulted by them.
Texhèk's uniform is practically made out of high tech gadgets and has many containers that carry even more of them. This includes, but is not limited to, goggles capable of seeing in virtually any visibility conditions, aerodynamically perfect throwing discs (some of which are specialized to generate effects such as smokescreens and electric shocks), cutting tools, grappling hooks that automatically fire and retract, and a handheld computer to hack into electronic systems. It also acts as body armor and protects him from both biological and chemical hazards.
In addition, he is a highly trained martial artist and a superb tactician.

Yakov Rosenblum
A student of the Israeli illusionist and purported telekinetic Uri Geller, Rosenblum quickly discovered there was quite a bit more to his own abilities than he had previously imagined. He feared for his life too much to go to the authorities on his own, but his telepathic abilities were discovered by the Mossad, who pressed him into service in a role equivalent to the role played during the Cold War by two counterpart telepathic super-agents (KINGFISHER in the CIA, SIGMA in the KGB). Rosenblum was born Jewish, but unbeknownst to his employers he renounced his faith when he began working secretly as a double-agent supplying classified information to the United Nations and the Arab League - both historically suspicious of the Israelis' true intentions. While his double-agent status is still highly clandestine, it prompted the UN to recommend Rosenblum to the then-recruiting Strikeforce 2.
Specifics:
Yakov Rosenblum
Age: 31
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 177 lbs.
Hair: black
Eyes: brown
Ethnicity: A Palestinian Jew by birth
Affiliation: Strikeforce 2, formerly with Israeli intelligence service; secretly working as a UN double-agent
Special Abilities:
Yakov can establish and maintain many simultaneous telepathic links with willing participants. He can sense others' unguarded telepathic emanations and can probe unguarded or lightly shielded minds. Yakov has a limited telekinetic ability; he can move objects up to the size and mass of a human being - including himself, which gives him a small degree of levitation ability. He has basic firearms training and is skilled in Israeli and Palestinian hand-to-hand fighting.
