Euro: In my mind it is not only very possible to leave Eddie behind on the Vanguard Lost story, but also use it as a way to evoke that paternal instinct in Raptor. If Raptor is "lost in space" without his son and is any kind of father at all, his motivation for getting home would obviously be his clone moreso than anything else. A good chance for character development without including a fringe (not to be confused with FRINGE) character.
That sound good to everyone?

It belongs in a museum! ************* Listen, I don't want to start a damn debate or semantic argument. This was just a simple idea. If no one wants to do it, I'm fine with that. I think it's unfortunate. But, there's no point if no one would enjoy it. If you want to do it, great! But, if that's the case, let's just do it, plain and simple. Main characters. Somewhere else. Add drama, action, and intrigue. Repeat. Euro, I see Eddie as nothing but character baggage. Just like Tobias' cat. He adds nothing to progressing the main story, and is simply another consideration to be taken into account when trying to write any form of realism into a scene. In that, how can I realistically justify that Raptor brings a two-year-old into critically dangerous situations? Same problem I would have with Axel joining Vanguard (no offense, TTT. I mean, we've talked about this before). They're children assuming the roles of adults. I'm sorry, I just can't buy it. If it is THAT big of a deal, then, bring the kid. But, I probably won't even acknowledge his existence in the story posts. I mean no insult, nor anything personal with this. I'm just being honest with you.

Maybe I should clarify: I wouldn't never have Euro bringing Eddie in one of the missions. I stated it somewhere above. If that's the case of the story concept, that they end stranded somewhere as the result of a mission away from the island, that's a matter of fact that Euro can't have Eddie with him. But because NOW (I don't know if it will be the same even a month from now) I am interested into exploring the father aspect of Euro, if we are going to do this story, I would be able to have my character bringing Eddie with him. Especially because they are away from everything, and I will not have the excuse of having Eddie at a day nursery or with a nanny. Euro will have to face the fact of having always the kid with himself, and in dire situations. It's right the chance to have the kid in an adventure that interest me, just because I will never have him in one of the business missions. In any case, I see Eddie as a part of the character concept of Euro, like Jym is for Adem. Quote:

As I said above, Euro would not bring Eddie on a mission on purpose. But still I would be jumping at the chance to have them being PUT in a dangerous situation by fate. I see this story as that one possibility. But, like I said, I am interested into this NOW. Probably when I will have experimented this one or two time, I will be tired of it, so if the story come in three or four months, I will probably not at all interested into bringing Eddie. Who knows?

True. But still, I would like to have the time to create in the writing the relationship between Euro and Eddie, that for now has just been hinted at. Like I said, if the story comes a few moths from now, I would be glad to leave Eddie back. Now, seems to me that leaving Eddie back would be just continue the forced separation that lasted for too long.
Doc and Sammitch: it was a reference to Doctor Fate, back when Giffen did a miniseries about him, at the end of the eighties.

That's fair. I have never ever written a line about the B team, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

I think it's a great idea. I want to do it. I would like to do with my character at his full development, but even if it will be not the case, I will be along for the ride, that's sure.

Last thing, since you awoke the little devil in me. Quote:

I think that if we want to talk about realism, we should focus WHAT is realism.
In the last story, in the time frame of less than twenty-four hour our heroes left Mandelovia, returned to la Perdita, without calling for help where joined by the EPS (departing from Chicago), organized a batallion of metas that where never trained to fight, never the less on the harsh climate of Antarctic, traveled to the South Pole FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY A NUCLEAR SUBMARINE!
It was an hell of a story, I enjoied it immensely, but then, one can't ask for realism.
If TTT would like to have a kid that is versed in magic and is powerful, what would be the problem? Maybe he could not be considered an employed of Vanguard, but still be present in most of the stories (the payed mission are very rare, as I pointed out a lot of time).
And, also, we talked a lot, a few months ago, about the "next step": are we all still interested into vanguard as a business enterprise, or wouldn't be the moment to take a step further? Not in one story, but in a time frame of, let's say, a year?
If Vanguard would become something more close to a superhero team, would Axel still not be allowed to join? Why, when he will probably be one of the more powerful being around?

Jym is a utility character who I will now pair with Grissom, since he is now filling the role I brought Jym in to fill. I can, have, and will do posts with Adem without Jym. They are not so intigrated that one can't function without the other.

It's not about power or even legalities. The character is 12 years-old. I can't speak for everyone's characters, but I'm sure a majority of them will have a problem with a child going into dangerous situations.

If so, nobody but you and Pro has said anything about it. Besides, this isn't up for debate. I'm grooming Axel to become my new Vanguard character. Who else had to ask for permission on how to construct their character?!? Axel may not be your "cup o' tea," but that's your opinion -- don't speak for the entire group. This just seems like nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking, Doc.

Apparently, you misunderstood what I said. I said, logically, it would be hard for most people, including the personalities in this group, to accept a child as a member of the group as far as putting a 12 year-old into harms way. I did not say that you couldn't do it or that we won't let you. I simply stated a large hurtle that you don't seem to have thought about yet and need to address when you decide to move him in.

Don't assume that because I don't discuss the details of the problems of bringing Axel into the team in the talk thread or in the group chats, I haven't thought about it much. Like Chance when I first introduced him, Axel isn't very popular right now because he hasn't been given his own chance to shine. After I found the right "pulp fiction" kind of groove for Chance and demonstrated through the story what I'd been trying to describe about the character in talk threads (with no success), he suddenly became a fairly well-liked character. That wasn't because of the character itself but because of my writing skills, and I think I can do something similar with Axel (and Mason Templar before him).
But I'm not going to discuss Axel in the talk threads any longer or trying to win anyone over to the character through description, because it just doesn't work. I'm just going to write it, and the rest of you are free to love it or hate it, or feel indifferent about it, or skip it altogether. I really don't care one way or the other, because I know at least a couple of the writers here will enjoy it, and that's who I'm writing for.
I don't mean to say that I won't accept criticism -- bring it on -- but criticise what I've actually written in the story rather than what any of you think I'm going to do based on stuff you've heard or what I've said in the talk thread or chats, because until it's actually written many of my ideas undergo a lot of revision. Judge the final product is what I'm saying.

If he will become, like I imagine (but I can be totally wrong, I am just supposing) the most powerful of them, like a smart Mxy, I think, credibility wise, that they would NEVER leave him behind.
As for the legality issue, how is the work legislation on la Perdita? In Italy, until just three years ago, it was legal to start to work at fourteen years of age. Now it's sixteen.

Gooz and Grimm: thanks to you. Next pic, I will try to make an action shot. With fewer charater, should be a little more easier.
Any cover suggestion from recent comics?

As for the story, I think TTT has done with the post he asked to wait for, so I guess it could be advance to New Year eve. But I don't want to talk for the others.

Thanks for the compliment Euro, good to know someone's enjoying it other than me.
It wasn't really a demand. Just wanted to get people's opinions.
Oh and I've sent a PM to Pro. Because, as special as everyone is, he's even MORE special.

Sammitch: Good scene you wrote, there, using Templar as a way to explain your Phil Smith character a bit more. I liked seeing Templar in "lecture" mode, though he could have been a bit more brusque. Plus the hints that you give of the past were done well -- things weren't made too obvious, and it's open for interpretation by the reader. Well done.

Hey, guys and girl, just lettin' you know that I'm still not a 100% after going to New Orleans this past weekend; so my brain's not really in story mode right now. It's all I can to to stay awake right now. I'll jump back in with both feet when my head clears. Don't wait up, though.
