i agree that this shouldnt be headline news. but it should headline the SPORTS section.
like him or not, he IS the greatest basketball player of all-time, so discussions about him generate interest.
personally? i think it was retarded for him to state he was retiring this time at such an early point in the year. for someone who obviously has at least a little trouble making up his own mind, it seems silly that he would state something so conclusive, so early on.
further... like the article states... he's still pretty damn good! more than likely amongst the top 15 players in the entire league, even at this late point in his career. that should at least force him or those in charge of the soon-to-be-losing-everyone-wizards to think about bringing him back.
in his first run... i really just hated the guy. and, truthfully, i cant think of a justification for hating him, other than he was so frickin good and everyone else liked him. i just didnt like him, blindly.
and, thus, i liked when they found out possible mob connections, or his gambling "problems," or alcohol or golfing debts or whatever. it made my negative viewpoints have a reason.
but, after his father died, i felt bad for him. i thought it was horrible, and showed that he valued life's priorities rather than a game (taking a few years off to grieve and be with his family)
... yeah, that whole baseball thing didnt help, but....
when he came back for the second time, i was neutral, i guess.
now that he's back for the THIRD time... i think im kinda routing for him. cuz now, he's the underdog, and i tend to like the underdog out of mutual patheticness.
