Using that logic the top story of the news on Thursday should be Friends...coz "everyone" likes Friends.

I know Friends is #1 in the ratings, but Jordan is far more universally liked. He's a bigger and longer lasting part of American pop culture. Something tells me that MJ will be talked about by casual observers several decades from now, and Friends will not. Kurt Cobain is still headline news--when they released that album and his journals last year, I saw it on headline news. Michael and Kurt are just simply part of our culture, and thus are newsworthy above and beyond their fields.

Like him or not you gotta admit the ego on this guy and his retirements is really annoying.
I dunno...he seemed pretty humble standing in front of a 4-minute standing ovation in Chicago. His ego really could be a lot bigger than it is...I know if it were me with that talent it would be. As far as his retirements, I wish he'd make up his mind, but I don't find them to be annoying. I could see how somebody else might see it like that, but it's not me. He has trouble letting go of a sport that, the first two times he retired, refused to let him go. In ten years he won't be able to come back, I don't think it's annoying that he doesn't want to be 50 and wishing he just tried one more time when he could.
