What message? All you're doing is talking about how great you are, so insulting you would be insulting the message, now wouldn't it?
Yes, bsams, this means you win, managing to impress only a bitter midlife crisis in the process!

Heh... Well, anyways, before we resume trading victories, I just would like to ask bsams and Franta why they had to fall back on "you're all Jordan zombies!" There's definitely two sides to this argument without that kind of crap, and there was absolutely nothing that would show either me or La Machine were particularly fans of the guy, other than we dared to disagree with the *great Franta and bsams*, as if NOBODY in the world would do that unless they were...BRAINWASHED! In fact we've both said stuff since that would suggest that neither of us like him any more than you two do. Obsoive! quote: Originally posted by Kristogar Velo: I'm not one to think that anybody has a natural moral obligation to anybody else in the world, but I do hold it against someone when they do less than they could. So why do you two act as if somebody supported the sweatshops? The past two pages that's all you're argument's been, that we're defending him supporting sweatshops. Please, show where this was done.
C'mon...I'm pretty sure that me, Animalman and La Machine are punk kids compared to you two, so why is it that we've shown far more maturity and brains in handling a disagreement?

Do I know Jordan?.......well...uhh.....maybe I DO!
Fabricated? I think that his sweat shops, gambling and womanizing have all been well documented then quickly hushed up. But its OK because if it werent for him, Martin Luther King would not be a household name according to La Machine!
Well now you're just outright exaggerrating.....
Dude, I will spell this out for you one more time. Michael Jordan was the FIRST internationally known American black billionaire entrapeneur. He opened up the MODERN Money market for the black man. That is truth. You can make jokes and try to be sarcastic all you want (which is starting to get real corny), but that's a fact. Spike Lee wouldn't have gone anywhere if there wasn't a Jordan to do his Nike commercials and help rake in money. Remember he had NOTHING before Jordan asked him to direct those "Look Ma I can Fly" series. I guess that doesn't mean anything to you because you probably don't understand how racially lopsided the entertainment business was in the 80's....and yeah his sweatshop scandal is very disappointing and he's probably an asshole...but you act like he's Stalin or something.....he modernized entertainment on a global scale, which may not be as admirable as a Nobel Peace Prize or a Medal of Honor, but fuck it's pretty impressive...and worthy of headline news. And if you STILL are too proud to at least admit that then you are a chode and I will not discuss it further.
Now I'm goin to watch the Bowl and pray you expand your mind a little.....
Louis Armstrong Lena Horn Redd Foxx Willie Mays Richard Pryor Eddie Murphy All those entertainers were pretty damned successful without Jordan. Some were popular even before he was born. Dont equate the US society finally giving blacks a fair shake as something Micheal Jordan did single handedly. It was a process that thankfully finally occured and Jordan just happened to be "IN" at the right time so that he was also able to benefit.

If you guys agree that he's an asshole...and I really dont know if he is, I dont personally knopw the man, my point is Jordan Zombies cannot see that he has faults. I still see NO reason why the fifth retirement of ANYONE much less a sports figure is HEADLINE news.

Jordan's the greatest and most notorious athlete(and arguably, person) of the last century. Anything he does is headline news, in the public's eye. Shouldn't blame him for that, if he had his way it wouldn't be. Also, it's his third retirement, which I'm sure you know. Exaggerate all you want, but it's not as unusual as you seem to think it is. How many times have Sugar Ray Leonard or Larry Holmes retired/returned? Bobby Orr did it several times, as well, his last retirment coming when he was 53. We've seen several coming out of retirements just in the past half-decade, Mario Lemieux, Ryne Sandberg, Jose Rijo, Magic Johnson, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. quote: Originally posted by Franta: Louis Armstrong Lena Horn Redd Foxx Willie Mays Richard Pryor Eddie Murphy All those entertainers were pretty damned successful without Jordan. None had endorsements prior to Jordan, and as we've all pointed out, endorsements are a major part of an entertainer's income. Guys like Tiger Woods owe their success to Jordan in that area.

Zombie.......
Hey Seargent Mayloxx,
Guess how much all those entertainers made for themselves? I'll tell you the answer; absolutely not NEARLY as much as black entertainers make post-Jordan. The only one on that list who might've broke a billion is Eddie Murphy....and that still is probably from Nutty Professor and other movies he did later on AFTER Jordan.
.....Hater.

Just happened to be IN???????
You know who else just happened to be in at the time? Dominique Wilkins, Magic Johnson, Parick Ewing.....
Hey let's go further than that
Michael Jackson was more IN than Jordan ever was.....but did black artists start getting signed up the wazoo to multi billion dollar contracts after him? No. In fact it wasn't until MC Hammer that black artists began to make a name for themselves financially. And MC came AFTER
(in Marv Albert's voice) MIchael JOrdan!!

So then Micheal Jackson paved the way for Jordan is what youre saying...proving my point...
I guess I find it pretty sad that news of a cop getting shot during a robbery and a fireman saving a buncha kids from a burning building gets downplayed due to Jordan retiring, which he "coincidentally" announces before the Super Bowl (he last "retirement announcement was during the World Series I believe.). Saddest part is the policeman and fireman remain nameless while the Zombies continue to pay top dollar for toilet paper that has Jordan's BB number on it.

No, Franta. He signed a two year contract two years ago, at which point he said he'd retire for good when that contract was up. It's old news, there was no "announcement". Players are interviewed by the media, and they answer questions. That question, for some reason, continues to come up, and Michael Jordan simply gives an answer.
If you want to blame someone for that, blame the media(who ask the questions as if it's big news and put it in the headlines as if it's big news), not the fans and definitely not Michael Jordan.

I blame BOTH the media and the Jordan Zombies. If people were more like bsams and myself willing to speak up in outrage that the media puts Jordan at higher importance than civil servants doing their job for a helluva lot less money than Jordan makes. I do blame the same fans who pay upwards of a thousand bucks to see Jordan play in one game but dont want people saving their lives to get salary increases. So yeah I do blame the Jordan Zombies who have no real sense of priorities.
There is nothing anyone will ever say to convince me that Jordan should make more than those risking and saving lives on a daily basis.

First off, I didn't. That was part of what Franta was discussing with La Machine, so I was going to let La Machine respond to it.
Second off, bsams, have you met ANY argument presented head on? Several times I've taken Franta's posts piece by piece and dissected them, whereas out of several posts I made, the only thing you responded to was an offhand irrelevant comment I made that I refuse to write anything around here. In other words, you've been the one to dodge entire valid arguments, then turn around and accuse someone else of it. Wow, that's maturity. Don't worry, bsams, none of us really thought you were going to take advantage of the opening I gave you to prove you were the smart one in the spat with Jack.
quote: Originally posted by Franta: my point is Jordan Zombies cannot see that he has faults.
And we've agreed that he has faults, so thus you just proved my point that you and bsams keep falling back on "you're all Jordan Zombies!" when we're clearly not.
So, hey, bsams, since you're so quick to point out when someone doesn't respond to a point, where's your response to that? I've only mentioned it a few times now, yet for some reason, we've yet to see what you say to that. Does that mean you win?
quote: I still see NO reason why the fifth retirement of ANYONE much less a sports figure is HEADLINE news.
I already gave my opinion regarding this back on page 1. So I can only hope that by now, even though you don't agree, you will accept that it's an opinion that differs from yours and doesn't mean I'm a Jordan Zombie. That would display maturity(take note, bsams).
quote: Originally posted by that guy again: I just blame him for excepting millions of dollars from a company that puts kids in sweat shops, sorry if I cant condone that because he plays basketball.....
That's fine. A lot of people don't condone that, myself included. It was never the issue here, bsams, I've been trying to point that out.

Let's be honest here. None of us have all the information on the sweatshop scandals. We don't know exactly who's doing what and where. I really doubt Michael Jordan has anything to do with that, anyway, why would he? I won't condone his accepting money if he did know about what was going on, but at the same time, I'm not going to jump to conclusions on the issue. quote: Originally posted by THE Franta: If people were more like bsams and myself willing to speak up in outrage that the media puts Jordan at higher importance than civil servants doing their job for a helluva lot less money than Jordan makes. I do blame the same fans who pay upwards of a thousand bucks to see Jordan play in one game but dont want people saving their lives to get salary increases.
You and bsams have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, so I pray people don't follow your lead.
You're ranting and raving about thigns you don't know the details about, you've jumped to conclusions on just about every issue presented here. You're protesting issues that have absolutely nothing to do with Jordan or the "zombies".
People pay a thousand bucks to see Jordan.....because that's the price charged. Society has always held the entertainment industry in highest regard, and that includes you. You spend more money on elecriticy bills for TV/computer/stereo and food/drinks every year than you ever will supporting the police or firefighters, so don't point a finger at anyone else before yourself.
quote: So yeah I do blame the Jordan Zombies who have no real sense of priorities.
Don't be ridiculous, nobody puts Michael Jordan above the protection of innocents. Nobody. You're overreacting and assuming that people believe popularity equates godliness. That's simply not true.
quote: There is nothing anyone will ever say to convince me that Jordan should make more than those risking and saving lives on a daily basis.
You know what, you're absolutely right!
But that's the way it is. Michael Jordan doesn't dictate how much they make, and neither do these so called "zombies". Your hatred is completely misplaced.
And personally, I'd prefer the police and firemen to want to save lives, out of the goodness in their hearts, rather than because of the benefits and rewards. A huge increase in pay just means more people wanting to be cops for the wrong reason.

Nor does treating you like idiots for spreading rumors about the death of Jordan's father make us Jordan Zombies.
Hypocrite.

Ya know...I can understand Franta's *frustration* (for lack of a better term) with the whole Jordan thing. Not living in Chicago, it's hard for people to understand how annoying Jordan-mania can get. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge basketball fan (that's where Franta and I differ) and a huge fan of Da Bulls, with and without Jordan. I have all kinds of Bulls and Jordan memorabelia laying around the house. I even watch some the old games on ESPN:Classic Sports whenever I get a chance. But, Jesus. The guy left town five years ago. Get over it. I got sick of every single new show dedicating 10 minutes or more to him every night for a week leading up to the game last week. It really got sickening. Outside Chicago, it might have gotten a few seconds on the sports segment of the local news broadcast, but here, it's all people have been talking about since the Wizards came through about three weeks ago. "How long an ovation will he get?" "Will his presence intimidate the Baby Bulls?" "Should they do anything special for him?" Jeezus...It's been made pretty obvious over the last five years or so, that M Jeff didn't want to play for The Bulls anymore. It's was made even more obvious that The Bulls organ-I-zation didn't really want him involved anymore either. Several years ago, we said our Thank You's. We said our Goodbye's. We retired his number (twice!) They even unofficially retired his other number (45). Christ, they build a fucking statue to the man. He said his goodbyes and said he was done with us. Time for Chicago, the local media, and the Jordan Ass-licking society to move on. But they won't. Before Jordan came along, nobody in Chicago cared about The Bulls. After he left, nobody cares about them now. All they gave a shit about was Jordan. Cell phone fans sit in their $250 seats at the UC and don't care what's going on (cell phone fans being those idiots who sit in the first couple of rows at basketball and baseball games talking on the phone to their friends asking "did you see me on teevee during the last time-out? They were right in front of me!!! Look, I can wave my arms like an idiot!!!")
I just want to see good basketball. I look forward to the future (I can't help it, I'm a Cubs fan...) I think that when Tyson Chandler learns how to rebound, he'll be a perenial all-star. I think that if Jay Williams can keep his turnovers down, he can be a future stud also. I think that if Eddie Curry can turn about twenty pounds of flab into muscle, and start throw bodies around in the paint, he can be one of the premier centers in the east (not really too hard considering the competition...) And if they can trade off Fizer and Jamal Crawford for an established leader, I think they'll be playoff bound next year. I have hopes for the future of this team, I just wish the rest of the so-called "fans" would...

Actually, that whole "gambling bet" rumor was a very, very legitimate thing that went around here for years. Even though it's been disproved,it still floats around like Elvis sightings...

I dunno would see electricity as more of a necessity than of "entertainment" but thats just me.
As far as Jordan is making more than civil servants,"Thats the way it" kinda like the response people had initially to Hitler isnt it? Thats the way it is so we shouldnt talk about it? You hope people DON'T follow the lead of bsams and myself and provide recognition for the civil servant but rather fawn over celebrites and athletes?!?!?!
I can see your point about the civil servants wanting to help people more than the reward and for the most part that I have observed (with a few exceptions) it is true. What I think sucks is morons the Jordan Zombies et al, who WANT to see the sports come before the saving lives.
