Len Wein's Green Lantern in 1986 was supposed to have spun off a new character, The Image. They even gave the poor fellow who was supposed to be The Image a nasty accident, which I guess was intended to give him his powers. Ostrander's Suicide Squad ended with the promise of a miniseries, which never evolved.
