Klinton and Bearded Guy I believe have also said they are gay.

Oh, and then there's Rob. That kinda goes without saying, though.

And Llance, while defending his heterosity, openly solicits male-given BJ's and will hump any hole.

Or is that a Kentucky thing?

You know, it all makes sense.

Rex hates beautiful women, and he posts dozens of pictures of a male penis in a row.

He's Erik Estrada!

Yep. My family & coworkers all know. I don't stamp it on my forehead but having the same roomate for 13 plus years & no girlfriends kind of gives it away. The ones that don't know, don't want to know.

if getting a blowjob from you qualifies homosexuality, then our nation will have no next generation. all the same, why not try to not be such an ass in this here? a little more respect, at least in this forum, wouldn't kill you.

a friend back in college lived an openly gay life around everyone but his family. his family knew, and didn't hate him (in the standard way, anyway), but it was absolutely never spoken of, in any fashion, even privately amongst them.

i know that bothered him, but i guess it had gone on so long, he grew indifferent (or at least faked it well)

I have to ask, in all seriousness, do homosexuals as a whole feel "alone" around heterosexuals? Now, I'm not talking obvious gaybashers or other intolerant dweebs. I mean, if you were hanging out with a group of heterosexuals that, for all intents and purposes, didn't care whether you were gay, straight, blue, alien, or the most "normal man alive", would you feel alone? Is it because they are not the same sexual orientation? Or is it something else?

I'm seriously just curious, is all. Does your sexual orientation define your feelings of brotherhood or friendship?

This forum has long been devoid of respect. I just made a joke that nearly everyone else here makes several times daily(and I'd be willing to bet would have made here if I hadn't). If it actually offends you, Rob, I'm sorry. Not my intention. Just having a little fun, the way you do when you bring the fact that I'm a virgin(which I don't take offense to), or come right back at me with the gay jokes the way you did just then.

I certainly don't have anything against you. If I did, would I post here as much as I do?

I'll take some light-hearted humor over heated political flaming any day.

Would I feel alone when with str8 men, or do I feel alone? Sometimes a bit isolated, yes. Particularly at work. I'm not out at work, and i work in a very gay-unfriendly place. So I feel somewhat isolated there.

Does sexual orientation define my feelings of brotherhood? That's really a great question. I have to say with all candor, I tend to view men I see in a sexual way. Like the way men often check women out. I've done this for years, even when I was married.

But I have many, in fact, mostly str8 friends. My gayness doesn't affect how I see them as friends. But it's still a good question.

I have to say, I have been very welcomed and uplifted by the good feelings directed my way on these boards. Most everybody was very supportive when I came out formally on the "McGreevey" thread.

oh don't get me wrong! truthfully, i don't care. insults and such are part of this forum, thats perfectly cool -- one of the reasons i set the boards up!

i never take offense to anything personally on the boards because im aware i live outside it. so, if annie or jq or pariah or whomever enjoys it, so be it. i've provided the message boards, go nuts!

but there's no reason for it in this folder, specifically set aside to not be filled with rampant idiocy (political conversations aside).

i'd hope there'd be a bit more respect for that. if not, i assure you, there will be.

so, be silly. be varied. offer opinions. but with a different folder specifically intended for off topic / offensive and silly conversations, all i ask is that you do all you can to simply keep this one more serious, as intended.

Well, in general I would guess it's "playing dumb". I also think it's unfair for gay people who have had trouble dealing with their own homosexuality to somehow expect their friends & family to be able to come to terms with it quicker than they did. Hopefully your friend's family got used to it in time. Coming from a family of all boys, my folks have very much come to appreciate having a son without grandkids.

truthfully, i haven't heard from him in a year or two.

but last i heard, he was living in an apartment with his boyfriend. everyone knew why, but his family treated it, unphased, as a room mate. never anything more, never wanting to know anything more.

i just always found it odd how "at peace" everyone was with that decision. i mean, sure, there was probably a lot of unrest with the reactions, on both ends, but... otherwise, they were entirely and perfectly functioning.

they loved each other, shared holidays together, the couple would have dinner at my friends' parents' house, etc.

a very odd acceptance, that seemed to do everything but accept.

Man, what kind of job do you have? I didn't realize that this type of prejudice was still socially acceptable, or, prevalent. Perhaps it's just my own environment, but, I've generally ran into few sincere homophobes. And, the ones that I've encountered really only made more of a case that they were in the closet themselves. It's like Elton John once said: "There's nothing more irritating to me than out-and-out queens going around screaming 'Oh I hate fags!'..."

That's understandable. I think every hetero-man always checks a woman out sexually, before relegating her to the friend-department. Women do the same. It seems to be a nuiance of nature on both sides.

Back in college, I had a group of friends that consisted of mostly straight guys, one gay, and two lesbians. And, although this may be a special case, there was never any unusual conflict or stigma attached to it. He is as much my brother as all the rest. When we all hung out together at the bar, he would give us the downlow on the women we checked out, as much as we gave him our critique of the men he checked out. He was one of us, and, in our eyes, there was no difference. We had his back when it came to getting him hooked up, as much as he did when he would help us meet some of his female friends.

And, again, maybe our situation was unique. But, just so you know, this all took place in Mississippi. And, if this can happen in the prejudice-capitol of the country, then, I would sincerely hope it can happen anywhere.

Honestly, it never even crossed my mind that you were, or, were not, gay (until I read your sig, of course). And, while I know the internet is the great equalizer, I would hope that you can surround your day-to-day life with just as many sincerely open-minded friends.

Besides, in this forum, it doesn't matter if you're gay or straight.......just whether you support Bush or Kerry!!!

In the past I worked for an interior design company and of all the men I was litterally the only straight man. I didn't feel alone, but then again we all had a relationship of mutual respect and there were the straight women. I could understand (but wouldn't pretend to be empithetic) to the feeling of loneliness. It would also depend on what part of the country you live in. In Seattle if you're gay there are many places to meet potential partners.

No problem. I would add that I've found this bboard to be really gay friendly. When a gay topic pops up, even the people I've argued with are polite & not what I would put into a "hater" category. I'm actually a left over from when Rob had his Legion board going. (for some reason the Legion group has a huge amount of gay fans)

The "kind" of job one has doesn't always matter. My boss, the owner of my company, claims to be very religious, and is unabshedly conservative. While he doesn't practice active homophobia, he's made it clear that he doesn't sympathize or understand gay people. Furthermore, several of my colleagues have pretty much expressed disdain for gays. On that basis, I keep my mouth shut. I've been at this place longer than anybody else. My boss inherited me when he bought the place in '03. He and I get along fine, better now than before. But I won't come out to him. Why? Because it worries me that he would fire me simply on that basis. Or that he would trust me less. Coming out here at work, at this place, simply is not worth it. I do not carry my sexuality as some kind of badge of honor. It simply a part of who I am, not the totality.
