Being a military brat, I never stayed in a place real long enough to pu forth any emotional attachment. There are three places, however, I've stayed in long enough to garner some feelings, positive and negative:
I love the Bay Area. Not just North, East or South Bay... all of it. I've lived practically everywhere in the general area and I can't play any favorites. But right now, I'm gearing up to go live in SF.
As for the four years I lived in SD (ages 11-14), they were extremely enjoyable. Especially once I found out I lived 10 miles from the world's largest comic convention. I still go down sporadically, yet I've never missed a Con since my first one in '93.
I didn't like Southeast Texas. I can't speak against the entire state, but that region was complete and utter ballsack. My mom and I were harrassed constantly and came close multiple times to physical confrontations. Thankfully we only lived there for 2 years (9-10). Then it was off to SD...
