Seriously. It seems everyone is bitching and complaining about the state/city they live in.
I know I bash Eugene a lot, but it has its good things. Great public transportation-I can ride the bus for 35 dollars a month and go anywhere in the city. Downtown-I live about a 20 minute walk away from downtown, and since this is a college town there are plenty of bars. There are also two great used book stores and two comic book stores. Family-I moved up here to be with my nephews. I see them all the time and it really makes up for all the bad things here. The Emeralds-Single a baseball team. I get free beer. It costs 4 dollars to get in. Can't beat that. I am also a 2 hour drive from the ocean, and about 2 hours away from Portland.

Not really. When I lived in Sacramento I really liked it. The Kings, Frys, tons of bookstores, new theaters. Theres a lot of good things in Sacramento. It does have a lot of non-english speaking people so it is bad in some ways, but I really liked it there.

I love Colorado Springs and plan to live here forever, with brief outposts just to experiance other areas of the country/world. The weather is almost perfect (although I have to put up with snow, it's always dried up within three days), the view of the Front Range and Pikes Peak and Red Rocks Garden of the Gods... oh, man. It's just gorgeous. It's not a tiny town, but it's not a huge city. With the exception of circle and the billions of one-way doglegs downtown, driving's a breeze. The town's fairly conservative and, although I'm generally independant, I do tend to agree more with the republican ideals. The only things that could make it better are 1)more of a ska/punk scene, 2)less idiots that attend CC and don't know how to cross a street, 3)more friends that live here - most from when I was a kid moved due to military posts.

While I think a lot of what goes on here in Texas is backwards, I would never compain about Dallas specifically, because I like it a lot here. The weather's terrific(no hurricanes, no earthquakes, some tornadoes but rarely in the bigger cities like Dallas), the people are normally pretty friendly and relaxed, and sports are paramount.
It might not be as exciting or as stimulating as, say, New York, but it's a nice, quiet, peaceful place and most of the time I couldn't be happier.

I love San Diego. I'd consider it a second home, infact. I don't go there as much anymore, but growing up we used to visit two or three times a year, to see friends(and, more recently, for the comic convention).
The weather's usually pretty good, there's lots of stuff to do, and, most amazingly, the women. I could literally walk down any street, at any time of day, and I would be sure to find at least one gorgeous female(usually wearing clothing fitting for hot weather). It's uncanny.
Oh, and Cali girls are notoriously easy. There's a reason the big porn companies are all in Cali.

The only thing I don't like about Vancouver is that it rains too much, but sometimes I don't mind. It keeps everything green all year round, and cuts down on smog, so I shouldn't complain. This is the place I want to live for most of my life. It's got everything -- all the city-stuff, several mountains very close by for biking and hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter, a lot of trees and parks all over the city and around it, and several beaches and places for canoeing and kayaking. I'm an outdoors-type of person, so that's a bonus. Plus it never gets as cold as the rest of Canada -- fairly mild weather year-round, actually.
So yeah, I'm happy where I live. I chose to live here.

Living in L.A.? Are you kidding?? Let's see, in any given day, i have a choice as to whetther I want to spend an afternoon skiing in the mountains, or going to the beach to get a tan, going to the desert to dirt bike, or going to Hollywood to a club, spending the weekend driving to Vegas or to Mexico, going to Universal Studios or Disneyland, spening the day at the Block in Orange or at the Citywalk catching a movie and a restaurant, seeing a good indie/punk/classic band at any of the many clubs and venues here (The Sunset strip among many places), driving along the coastline and getting some seafood, stopping at one of the peirs for a killer view of the sunset on the Pacific Ocean, going to eat at chinatown, koreatown,Olvera Street (mexican), Artesia (Indian food), south central L.A. (ribs), the 3rd street Promenade in Santa Monica, or any of the other parts of town where you can sample food and culture of any country and peoples you can think of, go to the museum in Exposition Park, or take a drive to an Indian casino etc. etc. etc. etc.
It's just another perfect day, I love L.A. - Randy Newman

I’ve occasionally lived in other parts of England and I’ve also spent long periods of time in foreign countries, however I’ve always retained some kind of permanent address in Southend-on-Sea, which is the town of my birth.
The fact that the town sits at the mouth of the Thames estuary, making it a seaside resort, distinguishes Southend from the other more generic settlements in the Southeast of England, whose main purpose is to provide housing for commuters travelling into London to work.
Away from the seafront, which is really quite tawdry and run down, the High Street contains the same chain stores you’ll find with crushing predictability in every English town. I would say that the leisure and arts scene is underdeveloped. It’s very rare for name bands to play here as there isn’t really a decent venue for them to perform in. I normally travel up to London if I want to buy anything, see a movie or catch some live music. The capital is only an hour away on the train. I think that things may improve once the new University opens, and the influx of students brings in fresh investment to cater for their needs.
What I object to most about living in Southend, and by extension England, is our culture which is fixated with personal material gain, to the point where the wellbeing of people becomes of secondary importance. This a hallmark of many societies, but in England it reached a particularly vulgar point where it seems people can’t even be bothered to look beyond their own interests and have become increasingly rude, unpleasant and intolerant.
I can’t see myself staying here because the cost of property in this area is very high. I’ll never be able to afford to buy a house in this part of England and it’s highly likely that I will live my whole life in a succession of rented properties. The only roots that I have in Southend are my memories. All my close friends have gone. I do not have strong ties with my remaining family and it’s become something of a priority to get out of their shadow. My minimal prospects for the future mean that it doesn’t matter where I live and I don’t really care anymore, although if I hit rock bottom I’ll move up to London where there are more opportunities.
Recently on Dave’s boards a few of us sent each other postcards of our home towns. I know the names of the places where my close online friends live, but previously I had no idea what their hometowns looked like, what it’s like to live there or even whereabouts they’re located on a map.

Being a military brat, I never stayed in a place real long enough to pu forth any emotional attachment. There are three places, however, I've stayed in long enough to garner some feelings, positive and negative:
I love the Bay Area. Not just North, East or South Bay... all of it. I've lived practically everywhere in the general area and I can't play any favorites. But right now, I'm gearing up to go live in SF.
As for the four years I lived in SD (ages 11-14), they were extremely enjoyable. Especially once I found out I lived 10 miles from the world's largest comic convention. I still go down sporadically, yet I've never missed a Con since my first one in '93.
I didn't like Southeast Texas. I can't speak against the entire state, but that region was complete and utter ballsack. My mom and I were harrassed constantly and came close multiple times to physical confrontations. Thankfully we only lived there for 2 years (9-10). Then it was off to SD...

The hurricanes have been gone for a few weeks now. Things are just starting to get back to normal for me, or at least as close to normal as I can get. But I admit, it's a real pain in the hooga when you HAVE to stay inside, there's nothing but the weather, and the power goes out, leaving you with no choice but to stay still and think.
So, I may need to leave Florida, which won't be easy since it looks like I'd have to leave here alone, at least until one of the other Florida dwellers changes their mind. *sighs*
There is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes, and maybe it’s too much for us, but it’s all on you. Because if we can’t protect the Earth, you can be damn well sure we’ll avenge it.

I grew up in Saskatchewan, the armpit of Canada, where the winters were half a year long and the mosquitoes and grasshoppers were a plague. I couldn't wait to leave that place, and I finally did at the age of 18.
Still, there are some things I miss about it. I liked the hot and dry summers, and I liked the five-foot-tall snowdrifts on my front lawn that happened once in a while. The deadly cold was a bit much, though. The west coast has made me too comfortable to go back to a climate like that any time soon.

I live in Romsey, near Southasmpton in Hampshire on the south coast of England.
It's quite a nice town, a bit too much tweed. Pretty quiet, but I like that. I like being in the countryside.
Southampton or Winchester are the cities I go to to buy stuff/drink myself stupid. Southampton is a typical British city, all chain stores. Winchester is still a bit more old fashioned, with a few chains.
I'm in the middle of a career change (accountancy was sucking my soul dry) and I quite like the idea of going somewhere else to start fresh. My friends are starting to disperse and I just fancy a change. I sure as hell can't afford to buy in Romsey.
I might move to Pembroke Pines, I've heard it's nice there.

I don't like the mentality of the town I live in. It's geared more towards being a retirement community than anything else. If it weren't for the two colleges in town, we'd have nothing to do. There isn't a decent comic shop around; but we've got a few book stores. I can get a pitcher of beer for $5 or all I can drink draft for $8. I'm an hour away from the casinos on the coast (where I happen to have family) and a little over an hour away from the music and debauchery of New Orleans. It's quiet and small (which I like) but also a bit boring at times. Sometimes I think I might be a little happier living closer to a metropolis like Atlanta or New Orleans (I'd never permenately live in New Orleans).

With the exception of three years I lived in Westerville, Ohio (and the less said about that, the better), and the year I spent in college in Fairfield, CT, I've lived in Massachusetts (in or around Boston) all my life. And I love it. We're a four-sport city. We have museums, great colleges, some of the best hospitals, and a ton of historical landmarks. We're close enough to New York if you want to spend a weekend there, to Springfield, Worcester (pronounced "Woo-stah"), Providence, and Manchester if you wanna catch minor league sports. Winter sports is always a drive away, due to our proximity to New Hampshire and Vermont. Boston is large enough that there is always something to do, but small enough not to overwhelm. I think Chicago comes close to that feeling, which is why I enjoyed my time there and plan to come back. But I love my city.

Nope...can't say as I have. I have no interest in visiting L.A., but I'd love to see San Francisco and/or San Diego. My dad made it to SF and had nothing but good things to say about it. And SD just looks...nice. If I went, it'd have to be in the spring or summer, as I'd wanna catch a Giants or Padres game.

He is far above mentions in so-called "blogs." RACK him, lest ye be lost! "I can't even brush my teeth without gagging!" - Tommy Tantillo: Wank & Cry, heckpuppy, and general laughingstock
