Blame Comics Continuum for that.

Is Adam Strange any good?
I have faith in Diggle, but limited interest in the character.

I've heard decent things. Soy Un Perdor likes it, but he's a huge Adam Strange fan, so I dunno.

You turd.
Okay, Adam Strange is good. It is basically an update on our favorite Sci-fi hero. Follows the continuity, which has faced one slight revamp/alteration back in the late 80s (read the TPB for that).
Two noticeable differences are that Adam has apparently aged a bit. Makes sense, but not entirely. Kind of reminds me of Emerald Dawn, where Hal comes along with grey temples.
Also his daughter's hair is now blonde. Not important, but compared to stories written over the past 14 years, it is an anomally (she has black hair).
But let's discuss the story itself. The first issue basically addresses the background information. It also deals with something else brought up in the revamp TPB from the late 80s--namely that if someone mentioned they were going to another world on rays and seen as a savior, people would think they were a nut.
So, Adam has problems. He has friends in the JLA. He in an intergalactic hero, and he has a wife and child on another planet. But no one believes him. He has no proof. Crap. Maybe he is insane.
Things go to hell when the next zeta beam doesn't arrive. Supes goes to check up on Rann (huge glitch here, because it takes 4 years for a beam to reach earth--meaning it would take Superman four+ years to fly to Rann--but we forgive the error and move on). Rann is missing. The whole planet. The system went nuts. Crazy huh?
But there is more going on here. A mystery in space (dum, dum, da-dummmmmmm). So, Adam hooks up with the Darkstars (the bitches of the Green Lantern Corps), LEGION, Omega Men, and other scrubs to find out what the fuck happened. Will he find out if his child and wife are alive?
Most likely. But hey, this is a comic, so let's not ruin the fun, huh?
The story was better than average, and the art was really good. One of the better comics out there at the moment. I recommend. May seem like I don't, but that is because I am a bitchy person...huge stickler for details (i.e. "Hey, Lois can't cut Superman's hair!") See, the less comics I read, the better. But this one is pretty darned good. Pick up the TPB and Swamp THing: Earth-to-Earth for a good Adam Strange story written by Alan Moore(co-starring some bad Thanagarians).
Words not violence, break the silence. Maybe.

The new Adam Strange book kicks all kinds of ass! After I read my copy, I ran back to the store and grabbed a few copies to send to friends who hadn't picked it up... They're ALL buying at least #2 on their own. I've liked Pascal Ferry since his work on Heroes For Hire, but he's stepped it up to a whole 'nother level on this book. And Diggle's story bucks the current (awful!!!) decompressed storytelling trend. Even the colors added so much to the first issue-- I loved how the "here and now" scenes were muted, almost drab, while Adam's recollections of Rann and his family popped off the page. This should be a great mini, and hopefully will lead to an ongoing outlet for DC's cosmic heroes. I love that we've got the Omega Men and L.E.G.I.O.N. coming up. I can't recommend this book enough.

I love those Alan Moore Swamp Thing/Alan Strange stories, especially how a great deal of one issue is in the language of Rann.

I just got issue 1. It's okay.
It's certainly intriguing, but I dunno if I want to continue getting the issues. Maybe I'll wait for the TPB.
