It's time to vote for the moderators of this forum. As we discussed, there are two polls, one for the conservative mod, and one for the liberal mod. Those are like the elctoral votes. They are official. I am also including a third "popular" poll, just to see how the nominees actually line up. I would ask that everyone just vote once, but these are the RKMBs.

I am of the strong opinion that this forum should not be moderated. As it stands now, everyone is on an equal footing. Obviously I am in the minority in holding that opinion.
If this forum is going to be moderated, then I guess that it's sensible for it to be divided up along party lines. However, I am extremely concerned that once we have liberal and conservative mods in place, they are going to become beacons behind which those on the political left and right will line up and scream vitriol at each other.
If the people who end up as moderators mess up and this forum becomes even more defined by hate fueled rants and a savage intolerance towards posters who share different opinions, then I know myself and probably others who come here will stay away in the future.

I have an idea...
Why don't we give the mods a 30-day trail basis and see how it works? They stay if they don't get in the way, and we ditch 'em if they don't work out?

That makes sense. Naturally, I've tried to vote for people who I think would not do this. But none of the choices up there would, I think. I know G-Man and WBAM are both fair-minded and polite individuals, and Wednesday and Darknight613 are also fair-minded individuals

i would like to say that I am not a moderate and therefore have nothing to prove. i won't be the heavy on either side just to show how moderate I am. My only reason for wanting to moderate is to be able to create fetures and polls and to keep threads from being thread-jacked I realise that in politics subjects can branch from one to the other. I spend alot of time here and was the one to come up with the dual-mod idea. I will NEVER disturb a post because I think it's "too liberal, but I think I can best represent the right because I am right (wing) in most every way. I'm conservitive socially and economically. I would like to see the other side represented by the leftiest lefty you guys can think of too. Only then can we bring ballance to the force.

Well, how big a deal should being left-wing and right wing be in terms of choosing a moderator?
The point of being a moderator is to prevent things from getting too out of hand, right? I don't think that has anything to do with being left-wing or right-wing. I can trust anybody here who's picked as a mod to not shut down a thread or ban someone simply over ideaology, and I can guarantee that should I be picked as moderator, I won't pull that malarky either.
Lefties and righties can represent themselves without moderators. I see moderators as simply being crowd control, in case things get too ugly or someone REALLY crosses the line. The only advantage to having a leftie and a rightie as moderators is so that neither side feels "the deck is stacked against them."

Maybe we should have a thread for debates for those wanting to be mods. They can come out and state why they wanna be mods and what they will do as mods. Then, they can begin mudslinging attacks against their fellow mod candidates.

I personally wanted to volunteer my services as a mod because, as I mentioned before, I have a good understanding of fair play, I know how to listen to both sides of a liberal/conservative argument, I wouldn't abuse my mod powers, and I've been offered the position before (although the offer was retracted because the argument was made that no mods were needed). That's not to detract from anyone else's suitability to mod this forum at all. I just think I would be a good choice - not the only good choice, but a good choice nonetheless. I simply want to help and I think this is a good way for me to contribute to, if nothing else, maintaining a peaceable atmosphere to the best of my ability, which several of you can probably vouch for.

I've allready assembled a team of lawers to sue if I don't win. Also I've doccumentented evidence that proves that minority (in this case the minority group I'm refering to is Alt IDs) were disenfranchised.

Um, did you acctually read anything I've said or did you just show up and start running your mouth? I don't claim to be objective, I claim to be a partisan. That's why it was my idea to have 2 mods one from each side. I know that you don't like me. You never have and that's fine, because that's not what I'd be concerned with as a mod. I've NEVER seen a post by whomod that I would delete no matter how much I dissagreed with it. I would just urge people to make sure they don't pick anyone who would view a political article that they dissagreed with as trollish, but since you aren't running, it's really not an issue.
