For those who are not in the know, I'm moving to Las Vegas, January the 6th.

Well, this is it...

I'll probably be packing up my computer here in the next day or two, so this will be my final communication for a while. As of now, I have no internet conection out west, so I am unsure when I can post again.

New Year's is always a time of reflection as well as a time for looking ahead. Coupled with my move, I see that ten fold for me. A lot has happened to me in the last two years in Maryland. I've loved and lost. I have had friends die, watched people get married, watch several friends give birth (I'm an aunt four times over now), I've watched people hospitalized for various emergencies. I've held four jobs (two full time and two part time) while in MD and have met some interesting folk. Some I'll try to remember and some I'll try to forget.

I'll miss my band mates, chilling out Tuesday and Friday nights with them, sitting around making music talking movies and just trying to enjoy what little things life gives you, with your friends. I will probably miss them the most.

My girlfriend Marie, along with Mike and their daughter Angelina. Having dinner with them the other night was fun and heart wrenching at the same time. Marie has been like a little sister to me. Now she is all grown up and a mother herself. I love her and my heart will ache a bit more without her around.

Jess P. has also been like a little sister to me, though she got all the fashion sense. Who else shares my level of devotion to Sex and the City and there are few others who's musical tastes I respect. We've cried on each others shoulders and have been there for mny shopping escapades. For the record, I did get her her job with the salon cause she is so hot. Inside and out.

Amy H. for being, hands down, the best person in the world to work for. Fun, crazy, intelligent, witty, fashion sense, beautiful and able to pull off stuff I could only dream of. I wish I could bring Amy with me to work for her whereever I go. She amazes me time and time again for always having a smile on her face and a genuine like for her job, despite what is thrown at her. If you are reading this, my door is open to you!

To Zandy, for being many things for me, but above all, a great friend and partner in crime.

And to all I've worked with, Harley and Salon to you guys, I'll miss you. We've shared things over the past two years that I'll not forget. Like drinks with Mel and Bo at Sharky's, Late night phone calls with Kim or standing in a foot of snow on a smoke break with Zandy.

I'll miss Maryland. But I have some pretty happy memories to keep me smiling.

In looking ahead, I see so many potential memories about to be made. Yes, I am nervous as hell. But excited too, in that same way that standing on the edge of something does to a person. It's like standing outside of a door, knowing your life is about to change once you cross it. You take a deep breath in and open the door. I'm walking to the door right now. Thursday morning I'll be taking that breath and once I land PST, I'll have entered the room and my life will change.

There are so many things that will be changing for me, I honestly don't know where to start. So far, the parties involved all seem to be receptive to me and this move. Which makes things easier. And since my visit last month, I've made some new friends and re-established some old friendships. Things are moving forward.

The hardest thing for me, at the present moment, is regarding my father. I won't get to see him before I leave. That makes me sad. But the things that gets me the most is this fear that I am somehow disapointing him by moving. I know I'm not, not in that way (he has told me so) but I still have that fear. I know he is sad to see me leave, but he understands that this was not a permanent move for me. Still, I'm greatly bummed that I couldn't see him before I left.

But I look ahead and remain optimistic about my future. Optimist hell, I'm down right excited. I know that is not a strong enough world for my feelings, but I am not as verbose in the morning as I am in the evening. So I'll leave it at that.

So, to Maryland, thanks for the memories, both bad and good, Annapolis will always have a special place in my heart.

I don't think it's much of a coincidence that the East Coast got blasted with no less than two snowstorms and about four feet of snow after Stareena left. The East Coast is an uglier place for her leaving.
