Doom was not bombarded by cosmic rays. This movie defies continuity. I will not be seeing this movie.

See, I find him one of those actors who just exudes evil, whether it's on CHARMED or even NIP/TUCK. He just has a way of playing nasty. Cute butt, though.

Yeah, evil, but wimpy evil.

To me, Doom should have a baritone and East European accent.

I'm really excited about this movie now. Mainly because I'm gay for Michael Chiklis. The more clips I see, the more I like it.

Saw the trailer at the cinema on Monday & although it looks good,I agree with Rob that The Thing just doesnt look that great!
To me he doesnt look that much different to the unreleased FF film (lets see if that gets a proper DVD release soon).

From what I've seen, Ben looks more like the early 60s Ben than the later Kirby/Sinnott or Buscema Ben's.

This is one of those things that's never going to please a lot of fans. There is just no real way to translate Ben Grimm onto the big screen in live action without something looking off and allowing the actor to still move as naturally as possible. It reminds me of the Hulk. Everyone bitched that the texture of the skin looked off and that he didn't look real. Well, a ten foot tall monster with green skin that's impervious to bullets isn't going to look the same as a buncha pale computer geeks.

Oh c'mon, you cant tell me that someone wont think that piggy backing off a big blockbuster movie,is a good idea to sell what is otherwise an unsellable movie.

I don't think Marvel wants that piece of shit out. It'd kill them.

Marvel might not have a say in it!
Although they own the rights to the FF,the movie rights belong to the studio,so they would have every right to release it if they thought it was a quick way to recoup some of the losses they incurred from that dung pile!
I'm also sure Marvel would willingly accept any money they might make from it,no matter how much they were against its release!

The reason they let that movie be made was so that the rights reverted back to Marvel. It was a call on both Marvel and the distributor to shelve it because it stunk to high heaven. Considering how much shit Hollywood puts out, the decision to shelve it instead of burying it in the direct-to-video shows that they would rather it never get out into the public no matter the cost.

From the NY Daily News:

I don't know how much this thing cost, but it needed a star like George Clooney at its center, and a character actor like Alan Rickman as Dr. Doom. You don't expect realism from a comic-book movie, but you do want the characters to seem larger than life.

I don't know if Clooney would have been my first choice either. However, I think some people tend to forget that, while Reed is somewhat absent minded in the lab, in action, he's the team leader and excellent strategist, and you need an actor who can play that aspect too. It sounds as if the actor playing Reed in this film is basically a wet blanket.

G-man - You're right about the character of Reed Richards. Clooney might have been a great fit, but he tends to be Clooney in all of his movies, and that would have taken away from the character of Reed Richards.

Peej - I didn't see King Arthur, and I haven't read the FF script or seen the film, so, I have no idea if there is even a problem with the movie. This could just be another whiney film critic.

Honestly, bad reviews or not, is any comic book fan not going to see this? I'm not expecting it to be Batman Begins good, but I'm hoping it won't totally suck. Either way, I'm still going to see it.
