I don't think you can make sweeping generalisations about an entire sex. We are all terribly, diverse and complex; it's one of the things that gives life its spark.
I like to talk to strangers and I've met some really nice girls. People lead very interesting lives but often they don't realise it.
One thing that I find socially awkward is when someone wants to swap telephone numbers. I'm not interested in cultivating a massive network of friends or in serious relationships and yet there's no good way to turn someone down without hurting their feelings, or making them think that you've been tolerating their conversation.
