*Some Spoilers*

I can't believe that nobody is talking about this. This is the return of freakin' Hal Jordan......and it's happening in a kick ass mini-series. When this is all over you will see the return of the Green Lantern Corps....Hal Jordan.....Sinestro and all the other goodies in the GL Universe. And for all the Kyle Rayner fans rest assured he lives through this and will remain a big part in the GL Mythos.

Now with that said......Who's reading this? What do you think so far? And what has been your favorite part so far?

I'm reading this and loving it.......I am a fan of Hal Jordan first Kyle Rayner second but I still am a huge Kyle fan and would have been pissed as hell had they killed him off.

So far the story is excellent....they are explaining why Parallax infected Jordan in the first place and why he turned Heel......and slowly but surely they are returning the GL Universe back to normal....including the return of Guy Gardner for better or for worse!

My favorite scene so far has been the last page of issue#3 when Hal Jordan has finally returned back to normal in his human form free of the Spectre and Parallax and challenges Sinestro! Kick ass art!

My favorite part of the series was when Ollie used Hal's ring and it almost killed him......he turned to Kyle with a new repsect for him and said "is that how it is when you use the ring and try and project your willpower through it"......and Kyle said "every time" .......what a fucking moment!

Anyhoo I hope you all at least skim through these issues at your local shops because this is something special.

I'm reading it. I like the action, issue 3 was just a fast paced rush. I did not think Sinestro would be brought back, but it makes sense. The reason behind Parallax doesn't quite sit well with me simply because it's something that should have been revealed to the Lanterns ages ago. But hey, they need a story so I'm going with it. I'm looking forward to Hal vs. Parallax. Looks like the Spectre is completely out of the picture (for now).

I've liked what I've read. Unfortunately as with too many worthwhile books lately, my local shop sells out before I can get there.

Hatin' it. I loved Johns's work on the Return of Hawkman storyline and most of the rest of his work, but it seems he's starting to miss the beat in his books. He had a good mix of excitement, progression, and fanboy moments to please a variety of fans; but lately he's gone heavy on the fanboy wank material. So far, it's not what he promised; and I don't think the explanations or returning of some characters is done well at all. And I was so looking forward to this mini.

They share a studio. I think some of Loeb's hack cooties rubbed off on Johns.

The art's nice. I like Guy no longer being Warrior, but I'm not sure I want him back as a Lantern either. I'm pleased as punch to no longer have the gay ass Hal-Specter. Worst fucking idea ever.

The story just doesn't have any balls. It's doing too much to please fans rather than crafting a good story that readers can get hooked in to. Having Parallax being a giant space roach that infected Hal is the pussy way out. They should have kept the burden of what Parallax did fully on Hal's shoulders. Give the character some much needed depth. Bringing back Silver Age Hal isn't going to do much good beyond the initial run of a series if they don't do something new with him. Fanboys can bitch and moan all they want. They'll just keep on doing it after they get what they want and stop buying Green Lantern just like they did over a decade ago.

I just found out this issue that Arisia is still dead though, and what of our beloved Ch'p? I love Hal and all and have no problem with Kyle..I really like this series and Johns is really the only DC producer I read every month with the exception of superman/batman and adam strange (now that book kicks ass).

I really have to say my favorite Gls are dead though, I really do like Ch'p and arisia...no joke... and Tomar Re is pretty cool too...but again, dead.

bring them back.....

Good series, even if it is according to Doc, fanboy wank material.

I'd rather see this than see DC screw up more stuff....taking it backwards is just as good rather than see them screw up and not follow through with interesting stuff.ie, Hal as parallax.

I still don't want to see Barry allen back though, even though he makes the most sense since he was scattered across time....the most possible. I would like to see his time displaced image at some point for a few minutes. That I could handle.

I do like how Kyle's been written so far. Johns has handled him very well, unlike the regular writers of Kyle's book.

And we now have a chance for a cool Spectre again.

But this whole Parallax is a giant space bug that bit Hal is shite. Utter shite. It's fanboy wanking and not what was promised in the series, that Hal would have to deal with what he did. It's Bullshit. Loeb has turned Johns to the dark side.

I've been flipping through it on the stand. I agree with this assessment.

I think the only thing I have liked about it is the Specre telling Hal Jordan, "Get fucked, I'm not a power ring." Or something like that.

Just because Hal was redeemed doesn't mean he's off the hook and it doesn't mean there won't be any complex issues he has to deal with.......remember Coast City is still gone (it has since reappeared but is empty) and most importantly his Love Carol Ferris is now married.......there are alot of exciting storylines waiting to be written.

But they're not as good as a hero who fell from grace, destroyed his Corps and killed his colleagues and mentors, and was a major league villain for a significant period of time.

Having Carol Ferris married, compared to that, is extremely lame.

I know alot of the Corps will be resurrected.....but most will not and that means Hall still has to deal with killing them......it doesn't matter if he had a good alibi.....he killed many innocents and he has to deal with that......plus you know Batman and some of the others won't welcome him back right away.

I know what you're saying and you're right Dave......I'm just saying that I feel there will still be many good stories to be told (Sinestro)and it is just so freakin cool to have him back......I grew up with the guy!

What I don't like about this story is that it is the epitome of what's wrong with comics. You don't like something? Then whine about it like a little bitch and we'll put it all back to status quo. It flies in the face of progression. I was willing to accept Hal coming back and even being a Lantern (though I didn't like either of those ideas, honestly) and was willing to accept that regression. What I think is just plain weak storytelling is washing away the responsibility of the evil deeds Parallax performed and bringing back a whole host of characters long since buried (Sinestro). With the exception of some good characterizations, I have little to look forward to from the conclusion of this mini. While everyone else is jizzing their pants because they're getting back Hal Jordan: Green Lantern, I am crapping myself with joy over getting a new Specter.

I think it's lame that Ollie almost died when using the ring and Kyle tells him it feels like that every time. Kyle used the ring for fun when he first got it, and it sure didn't seem like he was dying every time. Johns was trying to make Kyle kinda superior to normal people when he did that, and that goes against the character in every way. He's supposed to be the only normal one between so many perfect people and that's what makes him special.

I saw a page from this comic where Moe-Guy, John and FUCKIN' KILOWOG fight Sinestro aided by a Guardian. If it wasn't for the (fantastic) art I could have sworn it was a late 80's early-90's comic. For fuck's sake, why the fuck bring back Kilowog?! Making him fight to death with Hal and later having Guy find his skull in OA and cry for him is the most interesting thing that ever happened to the guy, and by this I'm not saying he's crap cause I liked him in JLI. And 80's GUY?! WHAT THE FUCK?! At least give him a new fucking suit. I bet Johns writes him like he was in the 80's-early 90's, too.

Kilowog's been back for a while now. You can't lay that one at Rebirth's feet. It's just another symptom of the larger problem.

I was enjoying the series until issue four.

The latest issue was a big, noisy, fight scene and the whole thing of how using the ring hurts the user was stupid, in that way that things that completely don't fit with 50 years of a character's history but seemed cool to a "hot" writer to throw in, are stupid.

No, that was a decision handed down from DC higherups. Johns was going to make the Enchantress the new Spectre originally.

No, if you think about it, it does fit. It would hurt Green Arrow to attempt to use the ring. Why? Lack of willpower. He's not exactly known for resisting his impulses, is he? The problem comes in the handling of the scene with Kyle's response "every time." Obviously Kyle's not affected that way, but the scene implies that he is. The concept itself is sound, but it's handled badly.

The idea is a logical outgrowth of the notion that Green Lanterns must have strong willpower, be fearless and honest, blah blah blah, going back to the origins of the GLC. It fits. Obviously, most people are not going to be able to use a ring effectively.

If you want examples of this, I can cite off the top of my head, issue three of the eighties relaunch (the cover is Hal punching Guy in the face) where Hal and Guy take off their rings to fight and two rednecks steal them. The rednecks are unable to use the rings for anything but making sixpacks of beer and chainsaws. So the idea is consistent, just badly done.

I can accept that. However, it still hurt the issue.
