What attracts me about this project is that, while Crisis isn't precisely brilliantly told, the concept is very interesting and I'd like to see what Wolfman does with it now that 20 years have gone by, and now that he has more liberty to expand on anything he wants. When I first read about this I thought it'd be something like those lame novelizations of hit movies (or even comics, like the Death of Superman and Knightfall novels), but after reading the interview I realized Wolfman is actually trying to improve and flesh out the story, and not just transcribe it to another format.

What hurts Crisis the most are two things: first, lack of fleshing out characters, something that the novel format will probably help a lot, and second, too many useless connections to comic series being published at the time, something that obviously won't be included this time, unless the scenes are really necessary to the story.

Also, has there ever been an actual novel about an epic superhero adventure like this? I don't think so, and I think the idea has a lot of potential. Crossover epics are a great idea that's never executed properly, and this could be the first time that happens.

Eliot S! Maggin did a novelization of Kingdom Come that was actually a pretty good read.

I'm glad that was finally cleared up. It would've kept me up half the night thinking about it.

This entire thing has me captivated and unable to sleep.

Mxy, we thought you were cool, man. You're no longer part of the Cool Group.

Hey you
rock steady crew

I forget the rest of the lyrics.

Elliot S! Maggin wrote a stand alone novel called Superman: Last Son of Krypton once upon a time - a very long time ago, since I read it as a 12 year old. I thought it was quite good - Supes v. pre-battlesuit Lex, with an alien villain called "The Master" thrown in for good measure. I thought some of it was very clever with great dialogue. I still think that, looking back.

I don't like re-reading things I really liked before I was 14. They almost always disappoint. Oh, and:

The fact that I really enjoyed this leads me to believe that some novelizations can be done well. Even if the source material isn't the greatest.

I dunno...I kinda think like this: It's like seeing a movie after you've read the book, only in reverse. The movie is almost never as good as the book so perhaps this book will be better than the comic.

Worth a shot. After all, love it or hate it, Crisis has been the most significant event in DC history since Seigel and Schuster hooked up.

Oderint, dum metuant.

You are a god damned idiot, you know that? You ought to be smacked upside your dumb-fuck head, even after all these years. Shame on you!
