bad signal WARREN ELLIS
It's 6am in Los Angeles. And, somewhere in Hollywoodland, Martin Scorcese still prowls the streets, looking for a large man from Queens to fuck right in the eyesocket.
Still reeling from the impossible notion that an eighty-hour-long film featuring the box office gold of Leonardo DiCaprio in a top hat was somehow not Oscarworthy, the man's brain must be full of blood bubbles this morning. How could the Academy reject the raw dramatic tension of an obscenely rich man and the insoluble problem of how to spend all his fucking money while looking for fresh milk bottles to fill with his thick green urine?
If only he'd played Katharine Hepburn himself. He did okay in his cameo roles, right? A pair of jodhphurs and a fine caking of carmine lipstick, and he'd have one of those little gold men to fondle too. And then he could beat Harvey Weinstein to death with it.

He was stumbling through his lines and was standing about two feet away from the microphone. Something was going on there.
There was a rumor saying that him and Barbara Steisand were constantly bickering on the set of Meet The Folkers, I think what happened last night had something to do with that.

Rob, this is neither the time nor the place for serious discussion. I'm dissapointed in you.
I agree that it's sad that it's always brought up...but I also think it's sad that so few black actors/actresses have won Oscars.

Jim Jackson said: I got these awards right:
Swank Fox Freeman (I felt confident that Alda's moment was getting the nom) Blanchett (she was great as Kate Hepburn) THE INCREDIBLES for Best Animated
Those were my picks as well.
I like Cate Blanchett a lot, and she did a superb job with what she was given, but the Hepburn character in The Aviator was a complete and utter joke. It was as if instead of actually trying to portray the person the writer simply put in Hepburn's character from Philadelphia Story(or Bringing Up Baby, or any of her other well-to-do, socialite characters).
By pretty much all accounts(friends, family, biographers), Hepburn hated the press, and was very uncomfortable with the attention they paid her. She was a tomboy, thanks to having only male siblings, and she thought the sugarcoated, glamour image Hollywood projected was bullshit(which it is).
She was not the jealous, attention-starved flirt The Aviator portrayed her as(and I sincerely her leaving Hughes had anything to do with his becoming more famous than her, which is pretty much what the movie implied). She was also not the type to act differently around different people(as implied in the scene where Howard meets her family). She was quite famous for being straightforward, and brutally honest.

I was sure he was drunk when he was presenting with Barbra Streisand(who called him "Bernie", his character from Meet the Fockers, for some reason).

Certainly wouldn't be the first time Streisand was accused of bickering with co-stars.
I remember a few years ago that her neighbors in L.A(or where-ever her main house in California is) tried to have her evicted from the community. I don't remember why. Probably because she's annoying bitch.

I actually didn't notice too much wrong with him. Penn, on the other hand, looked like he was stoned, drunk, and had just woken up for a nap when he presented for Best Actress...

Be that as it may, Cate was playing the Kate we, the fans, knew, and that still took an acting ability. She convinced me she was channeling Hepburn, thus increasing the movie's believability (I felt Leo did similar as Hughes).
Furthermore, THE AVIATOR'S Hepburn was a character in a piece of cinematic fictional drama. THE AVIATOR was not a documentary, so there was no reason to play Hepburn as she may have *really* (really) been.

I thought Rock started out good & then fizzled. Can't believe I'm saying it but he was just not funny once you got past the political humor. Most of the movies I've yet to see so can't really comment about who deserved what. Was kind of rooting for the actress from the Kinsey movie but also really like who won. Nice to see Eastwood win. Can't wait to see The Incredibles (that may have been the one movie worth seeing on the big screen)
Actually fell asleep at one point & missed the end of it.
Fair play!

Actually, he was laughing at Rock's comments when he came out. He handled the joke about him a lot better than Sean Penn handled the joke about Adrien Brody.

I think if someone makes a joke about you and you're laughing with them as you give the finger, we can go ahead and file it under 'playful'...
The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind won best screenplay. There is justice in the world.

I could never stay mad at Ani for longer than 3 posts. .......Robbins was definitely fooling around and has a great sense of humor....and although he and I are at complete opposite ends of the political spectrum I admire him for realizing he made a mistake when he was so outspoken......and remained more or less silent this campaign season................I mean Willis, Duvall, and Eastwood or very conservative Republicans but they don't go around talking about it......and that's how it should be.

I actually have to give Tim Robbins a lot of credit.
Last year, when he won best supporting actor, Robbins could have pulled a Penn and tried to make a political speech but he didn't. He made a very graceful speech as I recall.
And, this year, rather than get indignant over Rock's joke. He laughed and made a little joke back. Granted it wasn't the nicest joke ever but you can tell he probably didn't plan on anyone other than Rock seeing it.
Politically, I can't stand the man's politics, but for a Hollywood liberal he seems to try and show some class.

I'm a big admirer of Robbins. I thought he was fantastic in Hudsucker Proxy and Bob Roberts.
See what I did there? I commented on an actor's body of work as an actor without once mentioning his political stance. Which has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not I enjoy his movies.

I like Tim Robbins a lot.
I really don't know much at all about his political opinions. I mean, I know he's liberal, but I don't know what he's said that provoked so much venom. I probably don't want to know.
I just know that he comes off as a nice guy, certainly one with a sense of humor, and that he's a terrific actor and an underrated writer(Bob Roberts, Dead Man Walking screenplay, Cradle Will Rock).

this statement is very accurate for the past 2 years.............before that he and his wife were approaching the same level of retoric and venom as Michael Moore......they did and said some crazy things...........but he realized it was wrong paid a bit of a price for it and apologized..........Last year before the Oscars (later that night he would win an award) some reporters were trying to bait him into talking about the war and Bush and whatever..........and he politely sidestepped every question and said..."Hey listen.....I'm an actor first and tonight that's all I want to talk about" I liked him again ever since then even though I don't agree with him.
