Is DC looking for anyone to fill in that job?

I remember seeing one with Batman Robin and Batgirl gangbanging Catwoman
The JLA doing the same to WW
and some in a Batman animated with various Girls of Gotham in lewd positions...
I was doing the research purely for DC's welfare of course.

no time soon, unfortunately.

the animations are just incredibly time consuming.

i have 2 that i'd love to finish and place online, a story i wrote myself, and a remake of the dark knight returns, but i'm not anywhere close to finished on either of them (nor has either received an ounce of work in pretty close to a year).

Last year Michael Schumacher (five time formula 1 world champion),or at least his management, threatened a 14 year old fan with an injunction unless he shut down his fan site!
The kid was making no profit, but Schumachers manager thought it took traffic away from the official website which does make money!
Schumacher is obviously desperate for the money as he only makes around $25,000,000 a year for driving for Ferrari.

technically, they're absolutely in the right for shutting down fan sites. but most companies dont wanna spend the time and effort to look like the ultimate bad guy.

fox is probably the harshest -- probably listing the wwe as second place. they're notorious for cracking down fan sites.

Which is probably one of the reasons WWE's show attendance and ratings have dropped significantly. Not to mention why so many refuse to buy Metallicas new cd. That and it sucks too.

hey, its not my call.

i can certainly see the good in it. hell, this whole thread is about my fan site.

however, the companies would have every right to shut down any representation of their property, be it a site or a magazine or an underground video (etc).

Robs correct (not often we agree) because the company that owns the character/image/name wants you to go direct to their site (even if it sucks) usually because they want you to buy merchadise etc from them direct!
Although there is no harm in it,they still own the rights & you are using their property without permission.

Much of my time is spent suing people for infringing intellectual property rights.

"BATMAN" is a registered trade mark. "Honouring a charater" or not, its private property, and DC have every right to control who uses it.

If DC don't want people using the name, they can shut it down.

But, as said above, they mostly can't be bothered.

(I once acted for DC here in HK about 2 years ago, chasing a guy who was selling Superman underpants. There is a decision on it somewhere on the internet.)

Stupid move, really. They could have given the kid a job on their site, or bought his site off him, and saved themselves some bad publicity. If the kid was that much of a fan, get Schumacher to personally write to him and ask him not to use the site, and offer him pit tickets or something. It doesn't take much mental effort to keep people sweet.

Still, they're entitled to be bastards if they want to be.

anywho... a batmanandrob.com question:

is anyone's computer exploding on the site?

its pretty computer and processor intensive, and could very well be prone to fucking up some PCs. i tend to too often forget the K.I.S.S. mentality when designing sites, which greatly works against me.

another prollum is that web design has to, unfortunately, be designed for the lowest common denomonator. its not like a magazine or a tv show, where you have control over how the viewer receives the display. with websites, you could be targetting someone with a brand new PC or someone with an apple IIe, purchased in the early 80s.

my computer is new, cuz i'm a nerd and thats my world, so its hard to tell if the site works well on computers that might not be so hot.

sooo....

lemme know!

No, you just read that at one time DC paid him to do it.

One other thing: We were on the subject of DC and its policies regarding fansites, not underoos (that was just an example). Please be so kind as to stop steering this thread -

Thank you.

By that definition DC would have the right to tell Llance to take off his Superman shirt(much to the delight of Legion fans) when wearing it in public because it doesnt represent their trademarked character in the way they would like.
Dont say that DC made and sold the shirt to Llance and he can do as he likes because if I buy a comic book is it not MY right to scan an image?

llance is, unfortunately, wearing the product that dc intended as dc intended.

making your own superman shirts is not the same as buying one from them. so, no fan-shirts.

as for the comic book scan question... you can do pretty much anything you want, as long as its for personal, private usage.

same way that you can watch a football game on tv, but they always say you can't tape it without their permission.

Well Llance put once over and twice twisted on the back of his shirt...so DC didnt intend for Llance to do that.
