And, to be fair, one of my favorite friends there is blind and I take every opportunity available to make fun of that and we're still friends. That guy never fit there. He never got the spirit of the RKMBs. We're gonna keep an eye on the obits, see if he finally left or if he really did have a heart attack.

it's called "Whose Punchline IsIt Anyway?" and have people submit their best jokes for the week...and I would pick the best one and reward that person with a 'no-prize'

on this side, i currently have a few more deals in terms of prizes n'such in the works:
1) free movie posters for upcoming films
2) free porn dvds (sorry llance, no man love)
3) free music files for unreleased albulms
4) video game screen shot sneak peaks (that others can't see)
5) comic previews
6) pre release dvds
these are things i'm pushing for, in addition to a few other venues. some are closer than others. all of them are a hassle. i'm makin a lotta bull shit calls and emails, and spendin lotsa time trackin freebies down, yadda yadda. big pain in the ass.
these're also things that we're no closer to now than last month. our site's traffic levels are nice, but still way too low, and way too non-dedicated, for any "freebie-givin" company to take us seriously.
one or two features, unfortunately, wont make muchuva difference.
for this ezine idea to work, and for the prizes to be real (remember, the rewards and prizes're all yours), its gonna take a bit of work. there's gotta be a bunch of features. i'm thinkin 2 per forum, per week. minimum. and they've got to be consistant, meaning on a schedule of sorts. something regular, that will continually get visitors back on (roughly) the same day.
understandably, thats a pain in the ass on yer end. all i really have to offer at this point is comics and the potential future of some better rewards.
but i still think the idea is solid. and, with the huge pre-installed user base we already have here, its actually very likely this thing could get rolling way sooner than you'd think.
just takes the bit o'work now.

ok. i've since solidified a deal to get porn dvd previews and completed copies from 2 different adult dvd sites (both of which are non gay, franta). so, this'll be the new reward for wimmin's forum people -- which as of right now are tk and stareena. i'll continue to work with the other clients for other prizes, but i just wanted to update with the info, to sho that things actually ARE working

eh-hend now, the media forum has earned itself some non-porn beta-screen DVD movie hookups
its the same kinda dvd the wimmins featurists will be receiving ('cept those're pornographically delicious)
beta-screens, as i've since been told, are test dvds made before the final dvd is released. most of them are 99% the same as the final product, with maybe one or two missing menu choices, and no printed label. others are like VHSs, just the movie (no interface, no extras).
however... they're free, damnit. and dvd quality. and you can pretty much pick what title you want (or at least genre)
the ezine rises in power!

the ezine is now officially linked to my phausen entertainment branded company. thus, feature-writers are actually doing a resume-worthy job when writing articles, officially recognized by the gubment.
justanother advantage. you can plop this down as writing credentials and work experience when looking for a real job.
i can even be listed as a referral!

however, i'll recap the game, here.
the goal is to transform these boards into a community housing an online magazine, net-geek dubbed an e-zine.
intertwined within the regular list of topics and discussions will be a steady flow of regular columns. some will be reviewing comic books, others will be discussing movies, while still others will be promoting the hotness of various wimmins.
though the forum is already filled with a multitude of topics, the thoughts are generally, and by design, messy and uncollected. there are no guaranteed topic delivery dates, nor are there guaranteed traffic alottments and responses.
by converting some posters into feature writers for the ezine, certain topics will become regular events, presenting itself more like an actual editorial news source.
dave's "other side" comic book review is a great example.
