Do you go out of your way to avoid it? That would be sad. Here in Montreal it's a happening, just like every other festival in the city (they are legion. Starting in June there are only two days that are not engulfed in a festival until mid September...and all are huge events). Families and tourists attend it like any other festival. Berri square is engufed with over a million revelers (last year there was this old, heterosexual, chinese couple dancing in the foam....it was cute).
It's definately a part of my summer, just like the Jazz festival, the new Cirque production, and Just for Laughs.
