It's a push there. I know people also who got married young and who aren't happy or didn't stay together.
He was not in a position to handle the pressure on both sides, from Lor and from his family. I'm not saying at all that bailing out on his obligations to Lor is laudable, but given all Lor has said about their situation, I can't help but have some measure of sympathy for the guy.
