It occured to me while watching episode 17 the other day (I didn't watch them the first time around, so I had to download them all...) that Mr. Cooper (Locke's 'dad') is probably the same guy that conned Sawyer's parents all those years ago. He's about the right age and, according to that episode, has been doing this 'con' game for a very long time.
The real question, I think, is whether or not this guy is really Locke's dad or not.
