This and upcoming marriage are why I don't buy comics anymore. They need to just make it stop!

You know what the sad thing is (for me, anyway)? $2.99 is a cheap price for comics in Canada and has been for years. They're usually more expensive than that.

Now I just download them for free.

Even 52 is listed as $2.99, even though Didio was quoted as it being only $2.50. I think the previews are just screwy.

On Comics Continuum, the release date for Firestorm was even listed as May XX. What day of the week does XX fall on?

Jaysis! Like they didn't cost enough already...

Dear, sweet Harley Kwink...I'm madly in love with you. Marry me! We can go to Canadia. Or Boston or something. It'll be grand...You know the cookies are a given. They are ALWAYS a given. You could dump me tomorrow and you'd still get the cookies. Boston..shit, wherever dyke weddings were legalized. And where better to rub their little piggie noses in how bad they suck than right on their doorstep? What are they gonna do? Be jealous of you? Stare furiously at your tah-tahs? Not willingly give you cookies, but instead begrudgingly give you their cookies? Woman, time to wake up to the powers you wield - Uschi

Well, the question is will this affect your purchasing habits? Many of us are professionals, and may have extra cash, but seriously how much is too much..how much are you willing to pay, before you stop buying or restrict how much you will buy monthly? $5.00....$4.00???

To me its more about my pride. The fact that the comics market is such a small niche and yet the publishers keep taking a shit on us for no reason, and somehow keep earning extra revenue everytime they do. Evertime a comic goes up, I normally drop it, and theres no way im picking up the new Flash or JLofA titles if they are re-launched at $3, especially when they were one of the only 2 that stayed at $2.50.

The nail in the coffin for 52 for me was when Didio stated "It will be at a special low-price of $2.50". $2.50 is not low, especially for 22 pages. He can go fuck himself with his "special low price". I might have considered giving the series a try if he hadn't said that, aswell.....

Comics market will collapse in on itself sooner or later like Mark Millar said. Already the Big 2 are launching mini-series' at $3.50, and the piece of shit company IDW are charging $4 for 22 pages. It wont be long until all companies follow suit and even the rabid fan-boys find that they ain't got enough for the next big cross-over.

I wanna know why they've raised so much in the last few years aswell. Only 3/4 years ago $2.25 was considered the highest price, then that became the absolute lowest, then they jacked all those up to $2.50, and now basically everything published is $3 minimum

Even as a professional with disposable income, I'm finding that the rising cost of comics is detrimental to my purchasing. There are so many necessities like bills, rent and food and even other forms of entertainment like gaming and movies cut in on how much I spend on comics. I compare it to smoking: I used to buy dozens of titles every month, now I'm down to only two while chewing comic book gum.

Damn, I didn't even notice that they'd already gone up in the May Previews, I thought this thread was pure speculation.

Even Batman, New Avengers, and all the other high-sellers that remained at $2.50 have all been jacked up. Not even an explanation either, like some crummy excuse about "The cost of paper going up".

The comics industry can stick this up their ass. Im dropping most of my titles in disgust. I only wish I hadn't ordered the first issues of a few OYL titles that im now dropping.

I want to drop everything except they finally got good writers for Batman and 'Tec. I'm torn. Since I want to move, though, I might just wait and buy the shit One year later than now and get 'em for 50 cents on MileHigh (since I can't bring myself to steal 'em off torrents).

Didn't they just up it from $2.25 to $2.50 a few months ago? They used to wait a year(or longer)before hiking the prices up.

$2.99 at 22 pages is 13 and 1/2 cents a page.
$2.99 at 22 pages minus 7 devotred to advertisements is 19.93(333...) cents a page.

Twenty cents a page in a comic that used to cost ten cents for the whole shebang.

Twenty cents a page for a story about someone in tights punching people. A story, mind you, easilly stolen for (what's that?) free.

Now, to follow one comic for one year (let's say Batman 'cause that's the only one I give a shit about) you have to buy the comic in question ($36) plus a year of fifty-two (that's $2.50, right?) at $130. Add to that this last year of jack-me-off stories (Infinate Crisis - $15, OMAC Project - $15, the Superman and Wonderwoman thing - $15, Villians United - $15, Countdown to Infinate Crisis - $15, were there more?) totalling at least $75. That adds up to be $241. to completely follow everything that is going on you also, unfortunately, must buy the books that relate to the main title (in the case of Batman that's Detective Comics, Robin, Birds of Prey, Nightwing, Gotham Central, Batgirl/woman) at something like $18 a month or $216 for the year. $457 later we know what's happening in Gotham City... but what about everywhere else? Surely something from 52 will spark one's interest for a storyline only continued in, say, Superman or Green Lantern or some other gayness like when they put the best Joker story ever into Superman instead of Batman comics where it belonged. Saying a person limits themselves to one comic they would never normally pick up a month, we total at $493 in this one upcoming year (averaging $41 a month).

That's six sipacks of GOOD bottled beer a month for a year. and the beer didn't pull my tits for four years leading up to this pretending to give me beer and then now take the alcohol back and show that it was really all pretend and worthless to be collecting the absurdly retarded fanfic-jism paper.

Simple solution, really.

Start buying kegs.

A quarter keg is about 8 gallons of beer and will run you anywhere from 25 to 60 bucks depending on brand. Your 6 sixpacks is only about 3.5 gallons. The keg should last you about two, almost 3 months at anywhere from a fifth to half the price of the sixers. (Of course, you will need to invest in a refrigerated CO2 dispenser to keep the beer cold and fresh for that long but, I'm sure an enterprising young woman such as yourself could find a way to get one for cheap. I'm told that blow jobs work better than manufacturor's coupons when it comes to getting deals.)

Anyhow, following my suggestion would keep you in beer longer and cheaper (maximum cost of $240 per year vs. $492 with the sixers). This savings could allow you to buy $20 worth of comics a month...maybe breaking it down to a TPB and a couple of pamphlets...while still imbibing in the draft of your choice.

Or...fuck the comics and the beer, spend about $500 on some really good cocaine, step on it a couple of times with some simple bullshit...baking soda, baby laxative, cornstarch...cook it up, break it into rocks and start your own business.

If you don't get caught or killed, you can buy all the comics and beer you want after a couple of weeks or so.

Oderint, dum metuant.

You are a god damned idiot, you know that? You ought to be smacked upside your dumb-fuck head, even after all these years. Shame on you!
