You know I am poking around the Hush issues on my hard drive and I see that two issues before Jason/"Jason" pops up Batman almost beats the Joker to death with his bare hands thinking of Jason and Batgirl.
Also at the end of Death in the Family Batman was out to kill the Joker, he just did not get the job done.
