mods aren't there to move/delete, they're there to spark discussion, as you say david does. the "pretty buttons" are just part of the deal. its not just to get rid of stuff that makes people sad with tears of pain, but also to move threads to places where they'd be most appropriate.
i don't like thread or post deleting, and never have. but i still do it if it needs to be done.

and, again, its not just about what he "allows" or how he "steers" but moreso what he contributes -- which is lots of good topics that sets the forum properly.
its the pro-active elements, not the re-active ones, that make a good mod.
