RUMOURS TRAVEL FAST LITG has, of late, when posting items that may spoil future stories, posted them in white. To read the text, you have to deliberately select it, with big rumour warning implications around...
It seems that Upper Deck Entertainment has no such reticence. For their "Infinite Crisis" trading card series, there is a promotional page. With two Flashes. If you click on the one standing at the back, you can read his personal history and that (whited out text, select it to read it)...
the new Flash will be Bart Allen, formerly Impulse. And I quote "To stop the insane villain known as Superboy-Prime, a team of speedsters from several eras trapped their foe within the heart of the speed force, the other-dimensional source of their powers. The effort was untimately unsuccessful, and the attempt seemingly robbed all the Flashes of their physics-defying speed. Only Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash, remained in possession of even a fraction of his former super-speed - and Wally West vanished completely, leaving Bart Allen to carry on the mantle of the Flash."
Also note, that as predicted, Wally West "disappears", rather than dies as previously planned.
Except, is that an intentional distraction? Something to put people off the track? When researching this further, I'm told that at the end of "Infinite Crisis," Bart reappears older, as seen in that Upper Deck visual, with no powers, and hands the Flash costume to... Jay Garrick. Which is a whole new thing. Are DC playing silly buggers?
I do hope so. It's much more fun that way.

The issue starts of right where #6 left off with the heroes gathered around Superboy. The heroes get word via Green Lantern’s (Hal) ring that the villains are attacking Metropolis because if they can take out Superman’s city then they can take over the world. During the fight Judo Master gets his back broken by Bane and Black Adam rips Amazo’s head off. Just as Doomsday is about to go after Arsenal Superman and Kal-L show up and take the fight to him, along with the other heroes showing up to fight the villains. Just as Kal-L starts to confront Alex, SBP shows up and knocks him away and says he wants nothing to do with this Earth. SBP grabs Wonder Girl whom is then saved by Bart – an older Bart- in Barry’s old Flash costume saying that it was the only costume that could survive the trip. SBP then heads off to OA to destroy the planet and create a new Big Bang that only he could survive and upon leaving shoots a hole in Breach’s outfit causing a reaction that returns Captain Atom to the DCU. Down on the ground Alex shoots Nightwing with a blast in the chest which “appears” to kill him. Out in space SBP fights his way threw the Green Lantern Corp killing a number of them only to have Superman and Kal-L show up and take him away. Cut back to Earth and you see Batman knock Alex down and grab a gun. Just as he is about to shoot him Wonder Woman shows up and tells Bruce that it’s not worth it so he tosses the gun aside. Back in space you see Superman and Kal-L flying through a Red Sun with SBP and crash into the planet Green Lantern. SBP continues to beat on Kal-L when the rest of the Corp shows up to capture SBP. At that point Kal-L dies. We then get a panel where you see Metropolis pretty well damages but the heroes won – how we don’t know as that fight wasn’t covered too much and a one shot of just that fight should have accompanied IC#7. The heroes in space have still not returned. A kid on a beach finds the Tangent Universe’s Green Lantern’s staff. Bart hands over Barry’s costume to Jay as Bart has now exhausted the last of the Speed Force. You then cut to Gotham where you see Alex who gets attacked and killed by the Joker as Luthor looks on telling him that “you made a lot of mistakes. You underestimated Superman. Superboy. Me. But the biggest one is that you didn’t let the Joker play”. At the Gotham docks you see Diana, Clark and Bruce all make amends and take off in their different directions to find themselves; Bruce is with Dick and Tim. You then cut to OA where you find out that SBP is being held in a containment field surrounded by a junior Red Sun and 50 Green Lanterns watching him at all times. SBP then carves the Superman symbol into him chest saying “I’ve been in worse places than this. And I’ve gotten out.”

The reason that Barry's suit could survive the trip back was not explained by Bart, only that it "was the only thing that could survive the trip back. And I was the only one of us who could still run. I came to warn everyone. But when I got here I collapsed. Passed out in Tokyo".
Also in the collection of heroes at the end is an Omac which I would think is the star of the new Omac series, Martian Manhunter loks different, as does the Marvel Family. Mary looks the same, but there is one in red which looks like Captain Marvel but could be Jr. and one in full white with a hood; it's not Black Adam as he is on the opposite page.
From what I'm hearing they pretty much did leave out much of the whole Villains vs. Heroes battle in Metropolis.

The page where Alex shoots Nightwing and The General comes crashing down. Frankenstein is on the recieving end of that punch. Then you see them all laid out when Batman gets up from all that mess and Alex is giving him that speech about thinking too small.

i just felt the whole book was a very forced and rushed sum up of the enormous hype and what not.
i still don't understand why earth-2 superman wasn't fuckin shit up left and right. isn't he the planet-moving sunhumma bitch? how was current-superman even coming close to holding his own against or with him?
and why the fuck would batman pull a gun on alex? why was there a gun there for him to grab, and then why would the most anti-gun person in comics hold that up to luthors face instead of ... oh, i dunno, a whole buncha punches? a kick? smoke pellet in his nose? teabagging?
and wondie proves her point by... dropping her fragile sword?
argh.
and who the fuck is the batman beyond looking chick in the lower right of the final spread?
and is that the new martian manhunter suit? cuz it, too, sucks!

actually, in his first modern appearance in JLA, the earth 2 Superman is shown to be on the same power level as the SA Superman is, they fight each other until they both fall over from exhaustion.

As with most things in comics, it varied, according to the needs (or sloppiness) of a particular writer. However, as a general rule during the original "Earth 1/Earth 2" stories in the 60s, 70s and 80s, the Earth 2 Superman was, in fact, portrayed as the weaker of the Supermen. Usually, the writers had him at something closer to the 1940s level of power than the "planet moving" power of the "Silver Age" Earth One Superman.
Grimm is correct that E2 Supes was the one who destroyed the anti-monitor in the original crisis. However, even back then that seemed like sloppy writing, based on a desire on Marv Wolfman's part to have the "original" superhero save the day for a sense of closure.
Conversely, yes, the Silver Age Earth 1 Superman was the strongest. He was the one who could move faster than light and toss around planets. He, however, was presumably killed off by Alan Moore in "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow."
The current Superman is weaker than the silver age Supes and stronger than the golden age Supes. And his origin was different So I've always assumed that he was in fact, a completely different Superman from a completely different Earth.

I liked it. I especially liked the scene of the one kid finding the Tangent Green Lantern's staff on the beach.

Boy, was that a useless fucking mini-series. I actually agree with rob. Wonder Woman has the weakest sword in the universe. And I especially like how Geoff stole the batman beyond shit with Bruce and then we see batman beyond Batwoman..how lame.
To it's credit the mini had some cool lines and moments, but it basically sucked. much like Civil War #1, but I'll give that one a few issues.

I have to agree. It just left me with an empty feeling. Not in the emotionally sorrowful way, either. But, just...."meh". And, while I was reading it, the only thing I thought was "What the Fuck?"
There was no impact. No climax. All the dialogue and point of the story was either beaten over our head with literal meaning, or, was simply just there. WTF??
Everytime it seemed like the story might go somewhere, or, take on a real life, or, take a real chance.....Johns quickly reigned it back into simplified mediocrity. WTF??
Where was the "shocking deaths"? Connor?? Really? That's it? Well, what happens if you never gave a shit about Connor in the first place? What then? WTF??
Also, can someone explain how in the FUCK Nightwing survived that blast to the chest? Anyone? One panel he's laying there bleeding all over everything....next, we see he, Tim, and Bruce setting off on their Gay Cruise. WTF??
How did Superman lose his powers? Kryptonite exposure? For a fucking YEAR? WTF??
Wonder Woman's sword can carve atoms in half, and cut Superman's hands....but it breaks when it hits the ground from a simple toss? WTF??
Deathstroke single-handedly beat Batman down a few years ago, and slaughtered the JLA in IdC, but, in here, Bats, Robin, and Nightwing take him and tie him up off panel?? WTF??
So, instead of allowing the Golden Age Superman....the first superhero ever....his much deserved 'Happy Ending' from the original Crisis, Johns digs his body up, shakes it around alot with hollow dialogue for this mini, and then has him die a completely pointless death at the hands of a teenager??
W T F ? ?What a sad, pathetic, pointless, and superbly uninspiring miniseries this turned out to be. Bad enough the art was so half-assed and uneven.....but they couldn't even have had the balls to do ANYthing worthy of using the name "Crisis"? Pathetic. This truly seals it. Geoff Johns is a talentless hack. He now ranks up there with Jeph Loeb as being nothing but alot of unimaginative hot air. I now pray for the day he leaves DC Comics....
