My review of the concert.
I've literally been waiting fourteen years to see Toad in concert. I've been a fan since "All I want" came out my freshman year in high school.
Rex Stardust, lead electric triangle with Toad the Wet Sprocket has had to
have an elbow removed following their recent successful worldwide tour of
Finland. Flamboyant ambidextrous Rex apparently fell off the back of a
motorcycle. "Fell off the back of a motorcyclist, most likely," quipped ace
drummer Jumbo McCluney upon hearing of the accident. Plans are already
afoot for a major tour of Iceland.
Thats a Monty python skit they got their name from, and its also where I got my rexstardust name from.
They "officially" broke up eight years ago because they didn't agree musically anymore. The lead singer started putting out his own albums, which are great. Two of the other members formed a band called Lapdog, which I don't care for that much.
Every couple years they get back together to tour. Its pure luck that they had a concert here in Eugene on my birthday. They came on stage a little after eight and the crowd went crazy. Almost everyone rushed to the front of the stage, including me. By that time I had a great buzz going and I was four or five people back, almost in the center. They started with "Somethings Always Wrong" which is probably their best song and my favorite. The second song was "Whatever I fear" which is my second favorite song. I can't remember the order of songs after that but every song was great live. They didn't sing some songs I really wanted to hear but I still loved every second. The whole crowd was singing along and so was I, thats something I never do. I blame the beer.
It was the best concert I have ever been to. Probably one of the greatest moments of my life. They are still touring and if you can, go see them. You will not be disappointed.
