Tomorrow morning I am helping my little brother move into his dorm room for his freshman year of college.

I feel old now.

It'll be good times - he'll only be 45 minutes or so away from me instead of the usual three hours, so we'll be able to hang out more often. My main concern is my mother. After Josh leaves, she'll basically be all alone. I'm not sure how she'll do tomorrow, so part of the reason I'm going there is as emotional support for her. That and I don't trust the IT techs at that school with Josh's computer. I'm not good at trusting other people with computers I've worked on.

I also feel a bit of disappointment in myself. I really should be going back to school myself. I set a goal to complete my composition education all the way through my DMA before I turn 30. I will be 24 on the 24th of this month. The clock is ticking, and it's starting to look more and more doubtful that I'll finish in time. Ah, well.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you all about my brother going off to college and making me feel old. It's kinda crazy. And before you ask, I'm not going to link him here. He wouldn't last a week on these boards.

Peace.

go.

heh you think that makes you feel old? My cousins that were babies when I was in high school/a bit before that, are now in high school/college.

One of those cousins is in town this weekend and she's 19! man I remember when she was born and holding her. I also haven't seen her since then since her parents packed up and moved to CA that same year. The majority of my family lives there, close to the fault line too. So when the big one hits, I'll lose nearly my entire family.

yeah that's the family joke. in all seriousness.

And no, don't send your brother here. Save him all the grief and annoyances that comes with these boards.

It's a rented tux ok? I'm not going comando in another man's fatigues.

bat hags?

And, to be fair, one of my favorite friends there is blind and I take every opportunity available to make fun of that and we're still friends. That guy never fit there. He never got the spirit of the RKMBs. We're gonna keep an eye on the obits, see if he finally left or if he really did have a heart attack.

I'm sure they will all die from global warming or the bird flu before the big one hits.

My kid brother is getting married. If that shit doesn't make you feel old (and rather desperate, actually)...I don't know what will.
