Man, the Seahawks/Lions game was the perfect antidote for insomnia. A 9-6 snoozefest.

Double P's in this game. Penalties and punting. Made me wish a Mariner game was on at the same time.

Almost...

I nodded off...I was up late Saturday night watching the Bucks beat Texas and then picking my daughter up from her job.

It's hell getting old.

A pretty sloppy week all around, it seemed. Just one team scored 30 points(...Arizona...), and there were only a few 300 yard passers. Also notable, not one running back had 30 carries.

Seahawks get Deion Branch from the Patriots for a 1st round pick. Seeing as how Seattle's pick would most likely be no better than 29th overall, based on their schedule, a good trade.

Be interesting to see how this plays out with WR Darrell Jackson. With the restructured contract that Branch got as well as free agent pick up Nate Burleson, Jackson is the 3rd highest paid WR on the team.

he also has had surgery on his left knee twice in less than a year.....he's good but he's one cut away from never playing again and I think he knows that. The Hawks getting Branch is a huge move. He scored 5 touchdowns last year and just missed 1000 yards....he will either equal or better those numbers.

Apparently, I went 11-5. I'm debating whether or not I want to actually win this or replace Oakley and continue to pick against the Bengals.

ESPN gets highest rating ever for 'Monday Night Football'
Associated Press

ESPN's first regular-season Monday night NFL game under the new contract drew the cable network's biggest audience ever.

The game between the Minnesota Vikings and Washington Redskins, won 19-16 by Minnesota, drew a 9.9 rating, representing an average of between nearly 9.2 million and 12.57 million households, the network said. The previous record was 8.9 million households on Christmas Day 2004 for a game between Detroit and Miami.

ESPN's second Monday night game, San Diego's 27-0 win over Oakland, received a rating of 8.5 and was seen in an average of 7.87 million households.

The first game began at 7 p.m. EDT and the second started at 10:15.

A ratings point represents 1,096,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation's estimated 109.6 million TV homes.

An estimated 20.7 million viewers watched Peyton Manning's Indianapolis Colts beat younger brother Eli's New York Giants in NBC's prime-time game on Sunday night.

I think my Super Bowl pick, Carolina, takes another hit this week and I'll again pick against the Steelers (but only because it's in Jville and Ben, IMHO, is coming back too soon).

I picked Chicago cause they are home but Detroit will hang in there and maybe surprise everyone. Roy Williams is an idiot for gauranteeing victory though. Why piss off Urlacher anymore than he already is on gameday.

Totally agree. If the Lions were playing at home, I would pick them to win just because I like the attitude, minus Willaims' stupidity. But in Chicago? I'm not so sure. The offense is close, but I think it will be another week or two before we start to see some results.
