Nice designs, but I'd like to see more color. Everyone's so gray! It's like seeing a dozen reimaginings of I-Man.

That's true, I suppose, but it's quite a noirish sort of story, I think.

Well......the problem is...I haven't really finished introducing my character in, yet. So, let me actually do my next post before you continue any interaction with my character. OR, PM me and let me know what you're trying to do, so I can help merge the two without edits. Okay?

And, just so I have it all correct in my head:

Doc - The Legionnaire (android warrior with a mortal mind)
Euro - Emmanuel (God?)
CJ - Beatrix (mercenary with sentient armor)
SPAM - Tom Sawyer (no idea!)
Me - Captain Frasier (time traveling pirate)
Mxy - Johnny Fuck (space cowboy)
Jerry - Darmo (alien robot)
Notwedge - Arai Katsu (alternate-reality ninja)
Phil - Marshall (guy with new power every day)

So...two robots, cyborg, pirate, space cowboy, ninja, a god, a multi-powered guy, and "Tom Sawyer".

I would think some of those would/should end up being "bad guys", or something? Seems like a LARGE handful of power...

True. Hero Machine really limits the colors, though...

Or they all could meet, form a group, fight crime, and put right that which has gone wrong!

Jerry, you may want to think about fleshing your character out a bit, away from the basics of what you've established. Doc already created a sentient robot of a sorts. Not saying yours would be exactly the same. However, it would be pointless for both of you to be writing such similiar characters. Just a suggestion, mind you.

Euro, I'm curious...did you create a villian?

Phil, does your character have a first name?

Mayhaps I'm jumping the gun here. I'm sure some of this will be fleshed out accordingly. I, myself, will try to cement my character tomorrow...

No, my character is not God.

It's my take on the Spectre.

Yolu can either think he is a sort of Angel of Vengeance, that actually relates with God, or just a guys obsessed with the Bible that, once powered up, believes himself to be that.

In any case, I will try today to flesh him more, to help every writer to understand him. Ah, he talks only with citations of the Bible, so, either do your homework, or don't have him speaking.

As for his "role", I see him like Hulk in the first issues of the Avenger. I think he could be seen as a menace or a powerful force to be "used" by the good guy.

He could seems too much powerful, but I think he could be used like Mxy in Vanguard, where his omnipotence was limited effectively by his wackytude. For Emmanuel, I guess moral dilemmas could be what costrain him.

Don't worry, I was planning to take him to meet Emmanuel first. As I saw it, he's still preparing for Frasier, so in temrs of intro'ing characters, I'd predict another 2 or 3 Frasier-centric posts before the two meet.

As for powers, Tom Sawyer can teleport over long distances, though each jump tires him out exponentially to distance, and he' not very accurate over long distance. Plus, he has lots of guns and fancy tech wich I'll go into detail on later.

Well... I created, as Doc asked for, a character totally different from the ones I created before. While both Euro and Nemo were, at core, old fashioned characters with a strong moral code (when not subdued by the sword, and at least when written by me), I am trying to create a ruthless one, that has no restrains to kill whoever he judge guilty of ANY sin. That's a big departure from my own moral.

That makes him a villain? In my eyes yes, because he takes justice in his hand and distribute it by his own vision.

The first act he does, of setting the whole of Los Angeles on fire, I guess it would be seen as an act of terrorism by anyone.
So, if the other heroes want/are sent to fight him, I am game.

As I would like to play him, he would be unstoppable by sheer action/violence, and to stop him it should be questioned the moral of his action so that he is unable to continue his mission.

But, I am going where the collective writing will bring him. The good of creating a character so different from me is that I have no desires on how his story will shape up...

I don't really know if it will be a good character to write. Maybe, he is not tailored to live in a group environment, maybe he could be like Hulk and the power could leave Emmanuel after some time, leaving him as a normal man... I don't know, I am open to imputs, especially iof the other writers will be uneasy to write him...

The Spectre rarely worked well in the Justice Society, after all, IMO.

I have my next post pretty much planned out, I'll probablt write it when I get back from work. Just for the sake of reference, Katsu is in Las Vegas (I don't think I fully established that in my first post). Also, since he's from an Earth dominated by Japanese culture, Katsu is his "first" name and Arai is his family name.

Well, let's just wait and see. There is some advantage to having an aspect of this world where a Spectre/Hulk-like character exists as a threat. Still, won't give you much to do for a character if we treat him like that. I wouldn't want him around all the time if that were the case. The best thing about the Hulk's rampages and Spectre's devastation is that it only happens every so often. Still, let's just wait and see how it progresses.

There seems to be an assumption that we are building another group of "heroes", or another Vanguard or MBL. In fact, I'd be rather interested in not neccessarily doing this, per se. With the ragtag of characters we are putting together, it seems that many...if not all...will have their own personal reasons or motives for doing anything. For example, from his first post, I'm lead to believe that Katsu will actually be looking for a way back home. I could be wrong, of course. But, then again, look at Bellatrix. She seems motivated by the metaphorical "noose" that is always around her neck. What would she do to be free?

Anyway, these are just inital observations. We'll see how it all goes.

SPAM : Honestly, I guess what I'm saying is that I'm not too comfortable with Sawyer even knowing of Frasier's existence. I wanted to create and work him in as a loner, motivated by his own personal needs. So, while I guess Sawyer could know about him through rumor, legend, or historical text, what I got from it was that he was waiting on him for a planned meeting, or something. But, I could have read it wrong. And, I'd rather that not be the case.

Again, we'll wait and see...

Okay, last night I did write another post to fill out Darmo's character; He's a good guy. Surprise! This is coming from someone who is (Mostly) a good guy in his own life.

I was only kidding about uniting the characters into a super hero group, but it does not seem incongruous with their personalities and abilities to have them cross paths..
or to have them meet pre-established characters some of us have already created.... any thoughts on this?

What do you mean by "pre-established characters"? If you mean from other stories, then, no. The point of this particular exercise was to get away from all of our previous characters and ideas. So, I wouldn't be for that.

However, just so you know, I really enjoyed your last post. It reminded me, in essence, of The Iron Giant. However, what's the name of the woman, Jennifer or Carol?

My character seems to, unintentionally, be in a wandering phase right now. I didn't mean for it to happen. It's just coming out as the logical progression right now.

This is why communication is so important. CJ and I PMed about her and my characters. We found out what we needed to know about each and were able to write without screwing up each others' plans or characters. I also like that it gave that Valiant Comics feel of characters from different books having cameos just because they happened to be close to each other but not really interact.

Oops! I messed up! I was typing Jennifer whilst thinking Carol. I was laughing to myself while I was typing the chapter that the girl ought to be called Jennifer, and that Darmo ought to adopt the human nomencalture of Scott..as in the movie " Starman", which has long been one of my all time favs!

The woman is Carol, and Carol she will be for the rest of her life. I went back and changed the "Jennifer" to a "Carol."

Glad you enjoyed my post!

BTW, Iron Giant is also a fav of mine, though I was not consciously going for a story that was similar to it.

I actually did live in Lincoln Illinois for two years. VERY small, very redneck town!

I'm really getting into my writing now, in here and in my "Short Stories" thread! Has anyone here been reading it? Just curious. I plan on reviving a thread I started months ago called " Tales of The Truly Bizarre and Twisted", or something like that.

I know I have lots of room for improvement; it is why I am writing in here now.

The additions you all are writing in "Tabula Rasa" (Blank Slate) are fantastic! Love 'em all!

Got ya, Pro, about not bringing ANYTHING pre-established into here... everything here is to be brand new, which is cool.

You have to do a screen capture (ALT+Print Screen) and then crop it down in something like MS Paint (CTRL+V when you open a new file).

Dr. Lewis C. Faber before his death in the plane crash.

That book in his hand is on robot and robot brains. He wrote it. That's why he's got that "Hey look at this definitive book on robots and robot brains I wrote." And he's in space because scientists can do that at will.

You have to do a screen capture (ALT+Print Screen) and then crop it down in something like MS Paint (CTRL+V when you open a new file).

Thanks, Doctor! Will give that a try.

Posted.

A couple things: Firstly, despite the name, the Prometheus Initiative has nothing to do with Pro or his character by the same name. For the sake of storytelling I can only be vague at this point, but it was the best fitting name I could come up with. Secondly - a word to Pro - I put Frasier on the eastern seaboard. If that's a problem, let me know and I can change it.

Lemme know what you think...

I like your entry, Chewy! I look forward to reading your saga as it unfolds!

I also like what the Doctor and Pro have written today!

All the stories are written quite well!

Thanks, Jerry!

One other thing I forgot to mention until now: None of your characters have ever heard of the Prometheus Initiative. Thank you.

My last, and final attempt at trying to make my character...

It's probably still not exactly how I see him. However, it is close. If it isn't obvious, I'm shying away from the "obvious" pirate cliches' of big hats, and all that. The idea is that he's stolen from many different eras, and, by now (and especially now trapped in the 21st century) there's only a few vague physical hints at normal pirate fashion. And, the little dots around him is the force field/protective aura the talisman produces. I may or may not keep that aspect.

I think these two...

...are the two that I like the best. So, somewhere in the middle, really.

Also, as I said before, there's no reason for three people with swords. So, I'm trying to figure out what other weapon he would use, besides the modern Baller .45. That's why I included the crossbow and arrowpack. That may or may not be the case.

Chewy, good to see you writing again. And, yeah, the ship being on the east coast is no problem...
