Eurostar said: Well, TTT, I don't think what you said it's really true... Both Pete, Kris and the first Mason Templar were loved by most of the Vanguard writers. The only problem could have been that you kept them alive for too short span of time...
As for the creativity you invested... think of your pulp posts about Chance... those were exceptionally good...
Thanks. I generally consider Chance and Mason Templar as more-or-less successful characters (although I was never quite happy with how I treated Pete -- he would've fit in better in a different story context). When I spoke about my most recent characters that didn't take, I mean the characters Doug and Argent, both of whom haven't been used much and certainly not to their full advantages. I'm hesitant about beginning with another new character when those two characters seem like unfinished business to me.

Well, the problem with those two lies in the stories, not the characters... sadly both threads are dead, so every character in it suffer the same of yours... they are unfinished business for everyone.
By the way, you could bring Argent here... I am sure the "only new characters" policy wouldn't apply for him... as he existed for just one or two posts, before... (and not in MBL/TOMB/Vanguard).

I am kinda stuck with my character. You just know that Ray is gonna want to upload those memories of Darmo's, sooner or later.. and that he'll get some form of meta - human abilities out of the deal. I recall being advised NOT to make him too powerful... but, on the other hand, I don't want to make him too powerless.
It looks like it's all gonna happen in LA again.. and I want Ray to be able to go in there packing heat!

The problem is not making him too powerful or less powerful, IMO. What is important is that for any level of power, there must be the right amount of weakness. Think of the Green Lanterns... as much powerful they are, the original one was weak to anything made of wood, and the second one to anything yellow...
I am not saying that the wakness has to be something so literal... it could be something psychologycal... but there must be something that makes a superhuman character a lot less super.
Also, there are things that in a group writing environment are very difficult to do... for example, a character with mind reading abilities is actually impossible to write, because you should be able to read the mind of the other writers to do it justice... I know, as I wrote one in TOMB... the same could be applied for characters tied to mythologies that are not known by the other writers...

I look forward to receiving it... whenever that may be.
And glad you're enjoying the CD!
Also, Euro - in Pro's defense, he's waiting on me before he posts and, life being as busy as it has been, I haven't gotten to it. But I will. Don't worry... I will...

Ah, no problema.
I, too, am very busy withy work, and, also, yesterday, when I had a spare hour and sit dow to try to write something, was not able to come up with anything.
With Nwanjoku running away, having him 1) returning Spectre like or 2) stumbling upon another new character would be bad, story-wise.
I guess he should be captured by either Tom Sawyer or Bellatrix, or both of them temporarly allied, or maybe even the robot if he is displaced to the LA area... in any case, I think story must move a little on before I return to him...

Also, Spam, do you want me to cut a bit of my post to make it a little more open-ended for you. I would have done last week, but things are always insane at my house for about two weeks during Christmas. We entertain about 30 adults here, and about ten kids. It's a little crazy. Plus, my neice is destroying the house, and I'm on babysitting duty...
Anyways, let me know if I need to cut some stuff out to better suit your character. I just felt like the post was a little small, and I shouldn't have messed with your character just to make the post longer.
Oh...and the other reason I'm busy...the lab called and they are interested in me after all, so I need to resumbit to all the drug and background tests. Merry Christmas to me!

Actually, CJ, it's fine as it is, so thanks but it's not really necessary. As for the character stuff, it's not a problem, the concept's still in a fledgeling state so anything you add is good.
I'm also going to be quite busy over the holiday season, but I might be able to post more when my brother heads back to University.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you, Euro.. and to everyone else, too! There! Hope NOW you do not feel excluded! Note: Darmo - the robot has now become superfluous. If anyone has any.. ideas about his fate, please feel free to write it out! I am leaving him open to whatever for that reason. Ray will most likely head back to LA, and very soon, too. I shall endeavor to add another segment of story here this weekend.

Merry Christmas everyone, a little late. Been moving around for the holidays and won't have my internet back on until tomorrow. Snuck into my office at work to use the network there to check for important emails and shit. I'll check back in when everything has settled back down.

Happy New Year, NotWedge! No, your character isn't dead yet, he's fine, but the story is at a standstill due to the holidays, I'm hoping it will restart again after New Years'. Tell Ariel Happy New Years' from Beardguy!

Okay... I've written a post and, when attempting to post it, I keep getting Rob's version of a 404 page. I got this earlier when attempting to post a new BDC installment over in Media as well. Are any of you having similar problems?
I'll be notifying Rob, but, in the meantime, just know that I have a post prepared involving Seven. That is all.

Chewie, I've been trying since Wednesday evening to post another chapter in " Tales Of The Champions ", and have had no success yet.
I'm sorry that you, too, are unable to post in this thread.
Kinda frustrating, y'know?

Well, I was somehow able to post about half my Champions chapter into the thread .. I had to cut it into smaller segments, and I got some of it in... after a couple of successes, I got the old " 404 " again...
I hope that is a good sign.

SPAMM, your PM box is full... Quote:
Hey!
Hope you had a good New Year (we blew up 500 bucks worth of fireworks ) I'm pretty much making this up as I go along.
Anyways...Harpy's fighting style...I'd say it's all hand-to-hand sort of stuff. She doesn't have guns or grenades hidden anywhere. She doesn't have much in the way of ethics, so she'll fight dirty.
If someone is attacking with her with bullets, she'd rather dodge them than let it hit her flesh. If she can't move that much, she'll use the metal plates to keep safe.
I've been debating how much pain she feels...and I think Harpy still feels pain, she just doesn't let it bother her anymore.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.
Cheers,
Jackie

Doc, I really like how he's not a simple 'man in the machine'. It would have been too easy to just give a smart scientist a metal body and some guns. Kudos for you for making it more complex. I can even forgive you for 'the fruits of Communist China's labors were ready to be picked'.
