Okay, so now that it has been decreed that there are to be mods and, apparently, three mods, do those of us who voted "no mod" get to go back and recast our votes? And, if so, do we get three votes or just our remaining two votes?

I take that to mean, yes, we can rescind our "no mod" votes and recast them for three mods.

it means the election isn't over yet, and more people could vote for no mod. or whoever.
this really needs this level of clarification?

I'm not sure why you would object to my questions, Doc.
As it stands, you're in a tie for third place. If, as I theorized, those of us who voted for "no mods" are able to change their votes between now and Sunday, there's a good chance at least some of those votes would go to you, thereby increasing your chance of taking third place.

If you vote 'no mod', it's a single vote for no mod. If you vote for up to three mods, that's a single vote for mods. I really don't care how this election comes out. Notice that I have not once said anything about my nomination one way or the other. I'll go with the flow on this. I don't really give a damn.

uh no. as far as i understand rob... see, you already voted. your "no mod" vote counts as a single vote. just as those who voted for mods is a single vote containing three specific people. yadda yadda.

No.
A "single vote" for "no mods" is just that. One vote. "No Mod" gets one vote and only one, from that voter. That voter gets one vote.
In contrast, a "single vote" for a slate of mods (for example: Uschi, Sneaky, Doc) results in three votes from a voter: One for Uschi, one for Sneaky, one for Doc. Each of which goes towards that person's total number of votes.

But Rob just said that the votes were for individual mods. If it was one vote for three people, then that means the votes should be tallied as a vote for those three, not three votes respectively split up between the three individuals.

But that's not exactly fair though. Technically, "No Mod" should get three votes if Rob is going to allow us to vote three times.
I actually think we should vote once for just a certain set of mods, but if we're gonna havta vote this way, then it's more fair that a vote for "No mod" be proportionate to a vote for three people.
While I understand that Rob is more concerned with a stacked conglomeration of equally distributed votes, I think the set up is flawed for the reasons G-man pointed out.

If you voted for no mod, you get two more votes, methinks.
By getting 3 votes when there will be only 2 mods you're telling people to vote for thier 3 top choices knowing that they'll only get at best 2 of those choices. So if your top choice is "no mod" then you should also get to vote for two mods. The vote would be saying this "I would prefer to have no mods, but if there are going to be mods I would prefer it to be one or both of the following people" So if you voted "no mod" then just vote two more times and if Rob chooses not to count those additional votes I would be interested in hearing how it's "not fair".

That's easy for you to say. You're in second place. You're getting what you want.
Now I'll argue for what I want. G-man's right, there should have been two elections. One for whether or not there would be mods, and one for who those mods should be (in that order for obvious reasons). Principally, those are two separate issues--the existence of mods and who, if any, those mods should be. It's akin to asking us how many AND who on the same ballot. In fact, that's exactly what it is. So, yeah, I'm not even concerned about how much one should weigh in comparison to another, per se, cuz it's apples and oranges.
But whatever. Seems the majority DO want mods (though I wonder if that would have been the case had the question been asked the way G-man proposed). Still, I've believed from the start that this should be Rob's decision. His boards, his rules. If this is the way he wants it, cool. I've added my two other votes already. I just hope they'll be considered, since I obviously didn't know the rules beforehand.

If you understood the rules going in why should a "No Mod" voter get special treatment then the rest of us? Did any of the disenfranchised feel that they would get to vote twice if "no mod" looked like it wasn't going to win the first time they voted???

Well, in essence, to make his or her vote count as much as the next person, a person who believes this forum shouldn't have mods would have to put down TWO votes for mods who he doesn't even want against his ONE vote against having any mods. In that case, for us all to be equal, the vote for no mods has to fail by at least two to one.
Which, again, is why this system is fundamentally flawed.

Speaking for myself, I didn't feel disenfranchised until Rob's count illustrated why this doesn't really work. And, really, I'm still willing to go this way if Rob thinks it's best.

This is technically what you all want, just all rolled into one. You vote for mod or no mod and if you want a mod you also vote for the choices available. Nobody said you COULDN'T say Quote:
I vote no mod. in the case that this fails, here are the mods I would prefer.
so do it and let Rob decide. Like Wednesday did a page and a half ago that got totally jumped over in the conversation until just a post or two ago.
Besides, it is just a message board moderator for one forum. Since G-Man's not in the running I really don't think there's anything to fear of someone going overboard. I, for one, am proposing a light moderating example with a minimum of effort. I have a goddamn life, you know? And it isn't like a moderator has SO MUCH POWER! Christ, they won't bomb the UN. This isn't an earth-shattering vote. This is like voting for the kind of pizza you and your friends are going to buy.

I guess I don't think it's fair changing things at this point. It may have made sense having just a mod or no mod vote first but at this point hypothetically some people are seeing potential results they might not care for & want a redo. That's not fair to everyone else.
Fair play!

Honestly, I think Bobo should just make you and Sneaks mods now and forget the other shit. You yourself have more votes than 'no mod', which is why I don't understand all the bitching.

well, because if you multiply the "No Mod" votes by Three, you get a bigger number than 13 or... whatever Shan has.
