One of the worst parts of full-screen is seen on the old VHS versions of Ghostbusters -- the director used the full screen for the film, so when it was edited for VHS (full-screen) at first much of the action was missing. THEN, with the digital revolution, they re-did the full-screen with digital/fake pans to the most important action, giving the film an artificially disjointed feel that rips the viewer out of the story. It really is awful.

Wide-screen. Always. And, if you buy an HDTV the ratio fits a lot better -- plus it is so motherfucking big, the letterbox matters zilch. But plasma HDTV is shit: they wear out/fade really quick (a couple years, not long for something costing thousands of bucks) and make an annoying humm at high altitudes (relevant for my city). My sister and her husband got the new technology shit, not pixels and not plasma. It really is damn keen.
