For the time period, it was a pretty awesome film. Like TMNT was. It followed the typical 80s-90s film plots and techniques, just like everything else. Even Hollywood cinema has developed a lot in the last 20 years.

What was sad was how the Batman films only went downhill from '89. '89 was a HUGE improvement from Adam West's SHIT, yes SHIT. It had the right tone, even though Batman blows guys up and Joker was more Jack in makeup than Joker (I have a theory that he's not really an actor, but a popular, non-violent psychopath).

Except the scene on the steps to City Hall, "Hello Benny, it's your Uncle Bingo. Time to pay the check!" -- that was SO Joker.
