Uh, the chats and IM chats make the boards slightly more fun 'cause one has a better idea about the actual person behind the posts.

I see the boards as a place where you can discuss things and they will always be there. In chats we can talk about things that are more private or we simply don't want to discuss with the whole boards.
Besides, most of us chat with each other on AIM or Yahoo and that hasn't taken anything away from the boards.
