the follow up stories were much better than the actual "death" story itself.
Well yeah. That's where this film screwed up. The "meat" of the Death of Superman story was "Funeral For a Friend" and "The Reign of The Supermen". Which I think this film understood as well otherwise "The Death of Superman" DVD would simply have been one long slugfest.
The Death both in the comics and the DVD was just the setup to tell the story itself. The DVD's story however sucked royally.
