i think a "too real", "too fantastic" and "well balanced" batman story can be an awesome batman story if its well made.
begins was much aweshome. i have high hopes for dark knight.
i'm open to the joker's portrayal being the scary makeup route and/or the dipped in acid route and/or the never explained route. i've never been fanboy-enough to worry about these prometheus-like details. i just likes movies.

Personally, I'd prefer to not know the Joker's origins. I guess that's why I'm okay with them changing it from what it was in the 89 movie or The Killing Joke or the 50's version that says he was another costumed villain. I don't care as long as what they give me makes sense and is the good ole crazy as fuck, homicidal Joker.

Personally, I'd prefer to not know the Joker's origins. i agree -- i actually never liked that whole aspect of "the killing joke." i much prefer the spin paul dini and bruce timm applied in "mad love", where the killing joke story, or the abusive father story, are two possible truths in the joker's warped and manipulative mind. he'll spin them out as he sees fit, but no one ever knows what really happened. I dunno, I'm kinda with G-Man on this - it looks too "circus clown" and not "homicidalmaniacfacefuckedupbyacid clown". i dunno, lady. this: is creepy as all fuck. disturbing, spooky... and creepy. i really love the hannibal lector portrayal of the joker. the cool, collected, creepily calm, mastermind. clearly insane, but clearly a genius. he can get loud and zany when he needs or wants to be, but he's always in control. thats when mark hammill throws in that glutteral chuckle of his, which i've always found more powerful than the traditional bellow of "HA"s. whether the joker's visage is caused from makeup, a dead person's severed face, or some magical acid that doesn't burn or kill but just turns things white... it really doesn't matter to me. if the guy is funny, disturbing, evil and creepy, i'm sold.

If I have to deal with natural web shooters, you can deal with a little makeup. Besides, does it really matter? Yeah, we can deconstruct the pic this way and that all day long, but the whole dipped in acid thing isn't really a big part of the Joker character anyway. If they changed the fact that Superman's planet exploded or that Batman's parents were shot and killed in front of him, that might be a cause for alarm (notice the use of the word "might") but I just don't see the whole acid thing as mattering two bits.
