It's 4am and I've been awake for an hour being sick. I don't know what to do. Do I call and ask to come in late from the overnight staff? Do I risk waking up the shift manager by calling their phone and asking them to get me some shift relief and go in at 8am anyway and just wait to be excused? Do I just pretend I have no choice and go to work and be tired and sick all day?

It is Sunday and we're notoriously busy on Sundays. Plus it is right before christmas, so people will come in with a lot of euthanasias and super-sick animals. Just the way it goes.

Old men, fear me! You will shatter under my ruthless apathetic assault!
