not the joe q parts -- thats not the engine. all user-added stuff is quickly referred to as "content".

the "engine" is what fyrebug provides. its how the game plays, and the layout of the maze -- pretty much everything but the graphics and sounds.

even though, in concept, a pacman engine was one of my favorites, and was actually our first one built and the one we more or less pitched the company on... the final product that you see above came out ...assy. through no fault of doc or anyone else -- it was our faults.

its playable, and it works, and its got the pacman feel, but... it needed help.

so, for the past week or two, we've been planning and patching up the engine -- NOT the parts of the game users added. we'll likely upload the new one soon.

the really extra neat-o part about this whole process is that when we upload the fixed engine, it will repair every game that was already made! so doc's game, for example. all the work he put into picking the sound and music and characters and such, all of that will remain and be enhanced with the new look and layout! without him having to do anything!

so, for posterity, here's the version he originally made. and then in a few days, or maybe even a few hours, you'll be able to compare it to the original
