Well, Cap is probably a lot more important to the creation of the Marvel Universe than Namor is... but, yeah, it'd make a lot more sense if it was Superman.
Maybe Gaiman conceived the idea for a DC series (a sequel of sorts for the "Kal" Elseworlds!), and then took it to Marvel when he made the deal with the Donkey Fucker.
no, I understand Cap's importance to Marvel, but what I'm saying is that in some ways, it's a manufactured importance. much of it was added in after the fact, you know? later on in 60's and later decades.
whereas with Superman, it's there from the start. he's the cause of it all. that's all I'm saying.
