Also, the TV series version is what the general (non-nerdy) movie going public knows. If it were changed I doubt the movie would have made as much. Though I did read something in a Wizard magazine. An interview with Liv Tyler. Saying (paraphrased from memory) "Banner disappears after his father blows up, he's gone for a while but when he comes back Betty is with someone else...". I don't remember Banner's father mentioned in this flick, so I assumed that was to reference the past one.
