another random observation...
after watching the trailers 5 and 6 hundred times a piece, i was nerdily able to notice that they used different shots for similar scenes in the actual film. for example, the "here's my card" line in the trailer sounds and looks slightly different from the one in the movie. sane with the "kill... the bat man part."
i don't care, either way, just something i noticed.

my box office expectations are huge, as well, though im not sure if it can hit spidey-level. spidey had kid appeal, this movie i think was so "realistically" intense that it wouldn't resonate in the same fashion to younger fans. plus, the nearly 3-hour check in makes it much more difficult to keep the turnstiles running at the theaters.
Yer prolly right...however, I think that a lot of people that might not ordinarily go see a "comic book movie" will check it out due to the well desrved hype of Heath Ledger's performance...as far as the running time, so many theaters are showing it on 5 or more screens that I don't think it will matter that much. I also don't think it will beat Spidey but I say it will come damnclose.

at the theater harley and i made love at last night, it was literally on every screen. every imax, every regular. for each, they had a 12:00, 12:05, 12:10, 12:15, and 12:30 (no love for :20, :25 i guess) and then hit'em all again at 3:00 am.
if they keep that up for another weekend or two, that'd definitely make up for the 3 hour time.

I'm still giddy. And had the hardest time staying asleep this morning! I had the hardest time getting to sleep. I was almost late for work this morning. I'm riding on about 3 hours of sleep. But it was worth it. In-fucking-tense. The batpod, Jim Gordon, Harvey, Rachel, the parts I tried to predict, and the parts that had me on the edge of my seat. It was all perfect. The rest of the audience was cool to sit with too. Everyone gasped, laughed, and cheered at the right moments. oh and before the movie came out i wasnt to big on the bat-pod. but the wall u turn changed that. quickly. I know!! That was awesome!

I just saw it a few hours ago and it was amazing. Not much to add with what everyone else said but just a damn good crime drama and action thriller. Ledger deserves what ever awards he gets. And quite honestly I really loved the Dent character.
One of my favorite Joker parts was when he was in the interrogation room with the cop trying to push the cops buttons asking him how many of his friends he killed....... when the cop said 6 friends were dead cause of him Joker playfully acts surprised and proudly mouthed the word 6. funny yet disturbing stuff.
Quick question at the end with Bats gordon and two-face....when bats saves gordon's son and and throws two face and himself off the building and then gordon helps two face back up while bats held him...... how did two-face fall down? Did he try to save bats when he saw him slipping? it happened so fast I missed it.
another funny joker moment was when he was on top of the pile of money and shouts "where is the Italian!" I almost pissed myself for some reason I found that very funny.
One review I read in a Jersey paper called the bank robbery the best bank heist since Heat.....they were right.

One other thing that should be noted is that the movie, just like Batman Begins, had an incredible score. Very intense.
It should also be noted that Jeremy is gay and Snarf is bald and apparently we learned last night that Sammitch has a small wee wee.

The movie's Friday haul surpassed the previous record of $59.8 million set last year by "Spider-Man 3." "The Dark Knight" might break the opening-weekend record of $151.1 million, also held by "Spider-Man 3."
