Funny thing is, when I watch a movie it has to actually be a half decent movie, and have some decent acting in.
When I want T&A, thats why they invented porn.

Well, then your choices and opinions are clear. They don't have anything to do with mine, though.

 Quote:
Its nothing about you cutting my argument down, its about you saying that a catwoman film should just be T&A, and doc pointed out that you must by that logic have enjoyed the Halle Berry version, as that was its only redeeming features!

I don't think I ever addressed anything to you? That was all towards G-Man and Doc. And, besides, by the same logic, then Kathy Bates would make an excellent Catwoman, since she's the caliber of actress you guys are going for...

 Quote:
You have then got all pissy because you dont like people making fun of you, when at any other time (or against anyonelse) you would have laughed it off like the joke it was.
And thats what it was Pro, a joke, and if you really cant see past that and want to keep throwing out pointless names (all the names I picked were based on them being good to great actresses, attractive and could play both a sexy role while still being somewhat edgy) purely based on acting ability, which was not what any of us had said.
Most of us have agreed that you need a balance between talent and acting ability, not one or the other (or are you saying my list is full of ugly women?).

I never got pissy with you. I just get tired of the same "generalizing engine" everyone seems to run on. Every single person in this conversation has known me for long enough to know exactly what I was saying, and what I meant. The Halle Berry joke was not only not funny, it made no sense, and was merely said to distract from my original opinion. That's all.

 Quote:
Now go scrub your vagina!

I'll remind you of the same the next time you get all pissy with someone here...

I'm sorry but you addressed everyone that agreed with thedoctor and G-Man that your "T&A" comment was ridiculous.
And you still come back with Kathy Bates being fine when we have constantly said, it should be a combination of acting and looks, which you have either ignored or you think Kathy Bates is hot.

And then I spose you did address things to me, when you got all butt hurt about the photoshop.

The Halle Berry joke was and is funny, because many of us found it funny.
Sorry you did not, but thats what makes it now even funnier.

Sorry you have lost your sense of humour has gone the same way as your hair.
Does this mean we are in for one of your annual posts about what is wrong with this board?

isn't it possible that the talents behind the film (nolan and crew) could craft an otherwise bubble-gum actor/actress into a believable role? i mean, how excited were you guys about heath ledger's films and acting ability prior to the joker? (g, was he on nicktoons?) he wasn't an unknown before that, he was shit before that!

yes, the halle berry catwoman film was atrocious. filled with shit and so much more. but the schumacher batfilms were, too. uma thurman as poison ivy, no fun. uma thurman as kill bill? at the very least, a believable improvement (though not hot)

so maybe eva mendes or jolie would turn out as a shit choice, who knows. but i dont think its a foregone conclusion that the movie / role would turn out bad, with the side bonus that, hey... at least there's t&a.

I also believe that with right script and a genius director they can make any actor look good even bad ones. These guys are damn good at what they do so I'm sure it will be good no matter who they choose. I could see them picking Johanson since Bale and Nolan worked with her on the Prestige. He likes to stick with what he knows sometimes.

valid. she was teh shit. but also not hot, so she had zero value! (when i saw the movie in the theaters with my father, even he turned to me and said bruce wayne should be doing way better)

but i think katie holmes had the same "shit potential" gamble going into the film as, say, heath ledger.

From what I understand, Ledger, while making run of the mill Hollywood fodder, was also well known and respected for his indy work as well. The Brothers Grimm, Monster's Ball, and Brokeback Mountain are all movies that he received great reviews and acclaim for.

"i can live with [that]" isn't exactly excitement about the casting. at best, its mediocre pre-praise of a part that turned out to be amazing. which, really, is just an extension of the mentality that something that seems out of place and destined for terrible can surprise you with the right direction, script, and performance.

monster's ball also won berry an oscar ...which didn't translate to her catwoman performance.

Nah, it was pretty common family abuse stuff, from what I recall. He was just using that to get Harley's sympathy. I believe he also told a happy story about the one time his dad took him ice skating or something.

No, that was the one where his dad takes him to a circus and laughs at the clowns, so Li'l J puts on his dad's trousers and pratfalls, tearing the seat of the pants, and wakes up 3 days later in the hospital after his dad kicks the shit out of him.

I think the Red Hood, regardless of what happened before it, is Canon -- that shitty 60's storyline with the new process to restore the original color to burned fibers, Robin breaks his finger and has his whole arm in a cast and burns the hair from the Hood, then it comes back green, so they figure the new thing don't work, then we find out at the end Joker is in a barn and laughs, telling them Hey he IS the Red Hood! Whatever he was before then, that's when he became Joker.

The Red Hood stuff is the Silver Age origin of the Joker. Moore played off of that for The Killing Joke, but still leaving it open to be true or not. I, as I've said, interpret it as another of Joker's fabrications.

But I thought Batman remembered that bit too, even in Killing Joke. I might be wrong.

There's always the B:TAS origin too, where he was a thug. Or the one from Case File (Bat:B&W Dini and Ross) from Harley's perspective... I forget that one exactly.

Bats doesn't remember it in Killing Joke, he does in a later story that makes the mistake of acknowledging the wife story. But it's not Moore, so I don't care. The Bat-Man sucks.

I like the part in Mask of the Phantasm where they see Joker's old thug picture and paint the smile on. Darkwing Duck!

didn't explain the white skin, i guess, but the cracked persona would fit in.

Nah, it was pretty common family abuse stuff, from what I recall. He was just using that to get Harley's sympathy. I believe he also told a happy story about the one time his dad took him ice skating or something.

No, that was the one where his dad takes him to a circus and laughs at the clowns, so Li'l J puts on his dad's trousers and pratfalls, tearing the seat of the pants, and wakes up 3 days later in the hospital after his dad kicks the shit out of him

aye. the "(gary) abusey" kinda stuff was all what lead to the joker's current character persona, at least according to the stories.
