Yeah! A million different daddy stories, but not origins.

i looked at them as similar notions, i.e; "i act like this because, one day, something fucked up happened."

didn't explain the white skin, i guess, but the cracked persona would fit in.

Nah, it was pretty common family abuse stuff, from what I recall. He was just using that to get Harley's sympathy. I believe he also told a happy story about the one time his dad took him ice skating or something.

No, that was the one where his dad takes him to a circus and laughs at the clowns, so Li'l J puts on his dad's trousers and pratfalls, tearing the seat of the pants, and wakes up 3 days later in the hospital after his dad kicks the shit out of him

aye. the "(gary) abusey" kinda stuff was all what lead to the joker's current character persona, at least according to the stories.

Wanna know how I got these scars? My father was....a drinker. And a fiend. And one night he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not. One. Bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. Turns to me and he says "Why so serious?" Comes at me with the knife,"Why so serious?" He sticks the blade in my mouth. "Let’s put a smile on that face!" And..... Why so serious?

It tends to put you immediately at a disadvantage and IMO is a sign of true weakness.
This is true both in politics and on the internet."
